CAT® EXTENDED LIFE COOLANT (ELC)

Formulated for cooling system and engine protection that lasts three times as long as
traditional coolants, without the hassle of using additives every 15,000 miles. This
advanced coolant can end the problems of additive dropout, gel formation and radiator
clogging—while saving you more than 50% on Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCAs).
Developed exclusively for use with Cat ELC, Cat Extender eliminates the need for other
SCAs. Just add Cat Extender once, at 300,000 miles for on-highway truck engines,
to ensure that Cat ELC performs to its maximum life of double those numbers.

DIESEL ENGINE ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT (DEAC)

A conventional heavy duty coolant, DEAC is sold as a concentrate or a 50/50 pre-mix
with distilled water. It uses nitrates, borates and silicates for corrosion inhibitors, and
requires SCAs at regular service intervals.

PROPER USE FOR OPTIMUM RESULTS

Converting to Cat ELC. It’s easy to convert to Cat ELC. If you’ve been using a conventional
heavy-duty, low-silicate antifreeze/coolant, first clean your system with Cat Cooling
System Cleaner.

After draining the cleaner, flush the system thoroughly with water three times to remove
the cleaning agent. It is imperative to remove all the cleaning agent from the system.

Cleaning Your Cooling System. When draining ELC from your cooling system, just flush
the system with clean water—no cleaning agents are required when you drain Cat ELC
for a new batch.

Contamination Test Kit for Cat ELC. The test kit provides a pass/fail result based on
inhibitors present in the coolant sample. Using this kit confirms whether ELC inhibitors
are within an acceptable limit for continued use of the coolant. If the coolant has had

water or standard coolant added, there may not be enough of the ELC additives present
for adequate protection. We recommend testing annually for freeze protection in case
CAT EXTENDER
water (rather than ELC) has been used for top up.
 S•O•S analysis: your early warning system.

S•O•S Fluid Analysis is the fastest, most accurate, most reliable way to see what’s going

on inside any Cat engine. It’s also an important step toward increased productivity, fewer

serious repairs, less downtime and lower operating costs. Inexpensive, quick and easy to

perform, S•O•S allows you to test all fluids, including engine oil, transmission/drive train oil,

hydraulic fluid and coolant. Results and recommendations are usually available within

24 hours, and are presented in a concise, easy-to-understand report.

In the final analysis, combining S•O•S with the higher performance standards of Cat Fluids and

Filters produces the best preventive maintenance program for your engines.

S• O• S O I L A N A LY S I S
Developed by Cat engineers and chemists to evaluate the condition of your engines,
rather than the condition of the oil alone, S•O•S Oil Analysis is a valuable tool. Standard tests
include Wear Rate Analysis, Oil Cleanliness Analysis, Oil Condition Analysis and Detection of
Fuel, Water and Glycol. Additional tests may also be performed, if needed.

S• O• S C O O L A N T A N A LY S I S
With coolant or cooling system problems contributing to more than half of all engine failures,
S•O•S Coolant Analysis is more valuable than ever. This program determines the overall con-
dition of the cooling system, and can identify problems with maintenance procedures and
operational practices. We recommend performing S•O•S Coolant Analysis at least once a year.

There are three models of PHO batteries to choose from, all featuring the rugged

construction and dependable Cold Cranking Amp (CCA) performance you would expect from

products bearing the Caterpillar name.

S TA R T I N G B AT T E R Y
Recommended as the primary batteries in 3+1 systems, the 175-4390 features 950 Cold
Cranking Amps (CCA) for reliable starts in even the coldest climates. It’s especially suited
to long-haul applications with lower cycling needs and little “key-off” usage.

STARTING/CYCLING BATTERY
Recommended for most 2+0, 3+0 and 4+0 systems, the 175-4370 offers the optimum
combination of cold cranking power (780 CCA), cycling capacity for “key-off” use and
vibration resistance. It excels in every application from local runs to long hauls.

CYCLING/STARTING BATTERY
Recommended as the secondary battery in 3+1 systems, the 175-4360 is an excellent choice
as the starting battery for RVs, buses and trucks loaded with options that increase “key-off”
usage, such as radios, TV/VCRs, coolers and electric blankets. Features 660 CCA.

Developed, tested and approved by Caterpillar, Cat Diesel Engine Oil (DEO) ensures optimum
life and performance in Cat on-highway truck engines. Field-proven for consistent perform-
ance, it reduces oil consumption up to 40% over monograde oils such as SAE 30. Cat DEO
keeps soot suspended for cleaner pistons and longer engine life, lower oil consumption and
lower emissions. It is tested, certified and licensed by API and meets other major OEM
engine performance requirements. It’s also compatible with OEM low emission engine
designs, and allows you to standardize on one oil for your entire fleet.

FULL SYNTHETIC CAT DIESEL OIL [ SAE 5W-40 ]

Surpasses all conventional oil to provide extended drain capability, the capacity to improve
fuel economy and outstanding high temperature characteristics. Cold weather operation is
improved too, including engine start-ups down to –30ºC (–22º F), compared to SAE 15W-40
oils with a –15º C (5º F) minimum start-up temperature. Cat Diesel Engine Oil (DEO) 5W-40 also
provides outstanding wear and soot thickening protection, as well as excellent deposit and
oxidation control in even the most demanding engine applications. Fully compatible with
conventional mineral oils and seals used in Cat engines.

OIL FILTERS
Cat leads the way in oil filters with exclusives such as acrylic beads to help prevent
pleat bunching; spiral roving for greater pleat stability; a nylon center tube and
aluminum base plate to prevent metal contamination; and molded end caps to

HIGH EFFICIENCY FUEL FILTERS

Only Cat High Efficiency Fuel Filters feature ”stay clean” valves to prevent unfiltered
fuel with abrasive contaminants from entering a machine’s fuel system and causing
extensive damage. Designed especially for today’s EUI fuel systems, they use a
