RS-232 command

Connect the ADS serial port (rs232 connection) to the pc with the rs232 cat5 cable
if the pc doesn’t accept serial connection. The Usb-232 connection is used in
placed of serial connection between the ADS and PC.
Proper connection illustrated below.

Connect the KVM serial port (rs232 connection) to the pc if the pc doesn’t accept
serial use the usb-232 connection
PC->USB RS 232 cable -> RS232 CAT5 cable-> ADS serial port

USB RS 232 driver: driver (u232-p9) any other generic USB RS 232 driver
will work but no driver is available from ConnectPro
- Once the file is done downloading, the computer will recognize the
connection as a com port under device manager

Device manager is needed to check on the ports being used and what is being
initialized
 Right click my Computer

 Under Properties and left click to enter the Device Manager.


 Accessing Device Manager look for the port
--ex. (com3) Serial On USB Port
 Search for Ports and see where the connection is being made between the
ADS and the PC.
Accessing TeraTerm
Using Tera Term for RS232

Download TERA TERM if the PC doesn’t have a RS232 program already.


 Click on Tera Term and a window will pop up asking about a new
connection

 Make sure the bubble is under “Serial”


 Port : COM3: Serial On USB Port(COM3) or whichever port is listed in
the device manager listed as USB and serial connection

 Makes change to the terminal and serial port by going to “Setup”


 “SETUP” to “Terminal”
 Check the box “Local echo”
 “SETUP” to “Serial Port”
 Makes changes to the baud rate to : “11520”
 Change Flow control : “none”
Testing the Connection

-Call the device by either resetting the device or disconnecting the device and call
again
--make sure serial connection is made between the device and PC
(Disconnect the call and power supply to the device afterward, call the device and
re-attach the power supply) if resetting the device isn’t working.
-the device will give the information and version number
