Q3) Am I respecting the community and its norms?

Key Decision:
With respect to a community he is also a part of the community, may be in any shape or
form be it big or small, there’s a responsibility towards the community or its people. The
decision being made will not only affect him or her but also the community of which his/her
loved ones may be a part as well. It is applicable on employees of an organization as well as
its management they are working in.

Rationale:

If we are harsh on the individual who is not performing up to the mark and berate him then
this might demotivate the whole team as they will be fearful of losing their place in the
team if there’s a bad performance and this may bring may be catastrophic for the team in
terms of confidence. This may create a negative space or create rivalry between the players.
Thinking on these lines would help the organizations and business leaders make informed
decisions that will impact the community and in certain cases its norms too. Also, we may
apply the concept of communitarian approach to deal with actions that impact the society
and its norms. By this we understand that the decisions should be people centric and not
focused on a single individual.

Do you foresee any risk factors including any negative/unintended consequences of your
decision?
Sometimes there are decisions which could be highly profitably for a company, but disturbs
the community or people at a place. Then it is unethical of the company to pursue such
plans and should switch to more community eccentric practices.
The modern approach is to develop a sustainable business model and not to only focus on
the profitability aspect.

What are your plans for taking care of negative/unintended consequences?

Short term benefits might have value in the short run; however, they usually lead to
disgrace and downfall for large organizations if they keep continuing with such practices
without thinking of the community at large. It is these goals and long-term ethical practices
that helps is growth and sustainability of the organisation.
