Welcome to Kindergarten!
Today, you are going to do activities all around the room that will help
you get to know your classroom. Make sure you cross off each item
so you don’t miss anything. J You can start wherever you’d like!
Lockers
Take a look at the lockers. The AM class
tags are on the top. The PM class tags are
on the bottom. Find your name. You will
hang your book bag and jacket on the hook
that’s on the same side as your name. Your
jacket & book bag share one hook. The trick
is: Hang up your jacket by the inside loop
(usually near the tag) or hood first. Then
put your book bag loop on top.
Sink & Tissues
Practice taking a drink. Stand on the
stool. Push down on the knob as hard
as you can. The water fountain will stay
on long enough for you to take a drink.
It shuts off by itself! The tissues are
here, too. If you use a tissue, they go in
the black trashcan. Only sheets of
paper can go in the blue recycling can.
Teacher
Go meet Mrs. Fitzpatrick! She needs to
check your dismissal information to
make sure you get home safely each
day. She’d also like to take your picture
on your very first day of kindergarten!
She can answer any questions you or
your parents may have.
Writing Table
Pick an ipad. Press the circle button two
times to unlock it. Then swipe over one time
& click on the magnetic letter app. It should
be at the bottom. Drag the magnetic
letters up to spell your name. You can spell
other words, too! Next, drag the magnetic
letters down to clear the letters for the
next person. Then press the bottom
button two times to close out of the
game.
Bathroom
We use the bathroom with the owls on the
door. The light will come on automatically
when you go in. If it doesn’t, you can push
the blinking red button one time. Push hard.
Go ahead and give it a try! The toilet has
two flush buttons. You can push whichever
one you’d like. The sink will turn on when you
put your hands under it. Practice washing
your hands by following the steps on the
poster.
Library
Check out our awesome library! We have
TONS of books on LOTS of different
topics. Notice how the books in each basket
have a shape taped to the front. That tells
you which basket it goes back in. You have
to help keep your classroom organized. If
you find a book with no shape on the front,
you can put it on the wooden bookshelf by
the calendar.

ABC Center
Take one scoopful of magic glitter. Add
it to the plastic baggie. Zip the bag shut.
Pick up a not card but don’t read it! This
is a special message for you to read
before you go to sleep tonight. Have
your grown-up put the paper in the
baggie. Write your name on the bag.
Don’t forget to take it with you when
you leave today!
Math Center
Pick up a recipe card. Think about what
makes you special. Tell your grown-up
four things that make you unique! Your
grown-up will write them on the lines on
the card. Don’t forget to add your
name on the top! Use the crayons to
color the kids. Then you can hang it
anywhere on the hallway bulletin board
outside our door.
Art Table
Use the watercolors to paint a picture
of your family. When you are finished,
have your grown-up write your name
nicely on the front. You can set it on
any counter to dry. Mrs. Fitz will hang it
up. Then tomorrow, when you come to
school without your grown-up, you will
get to see them here in the room with
you all day!
Kitchen Center
This is always a favorite center! Serve
your grown-up some food and drinks.
Take a peak through the window. That’s
our very own kindergarten playground!
We get to play there every day! Check
out the birthday poster. Can you find
your name? Make sure your birthday is
correct. Let Mrs. Fitz know if it is not.
Word Work Center
Play in the sand table. This is called kinetic
sand. There are just 2 rules:
1. It has to stay inside the table. That
means you can’t throw it, walk away
with it, or lift it too high out of the
table.
2. You can’t stick anything extra in the
sand. Only the shells and pebbles can
be stuck in the sand.
When you finish visiting all areas, find your
desk and practice sitting on a ball chair.
Here are our rules:
1. No crazy bouncing.
2. Turn the “feet” on the side or back
before you sit down.
When the teacher sees all kids on a ball
chair, we will move on to the next part of
our session!
