1. Students find it very difficult or having trouble expressing and organizing ideas in writing.

There
are students who are naturally good at it. Others aren’t, maybe because they’re struggling to
come up with ideas and thoughts, or how to figure out where to start and finish a write up. On
the other hand, students are somewhat good at spelling and has occasional errors in some parts
of mechanics. Based from the samples, almost all of the students can spell a word correctly and
use it in a sentence. However, most of the words and sentences from students who were poor
in writing usually don’t make sense or shall I say, incomplete or half-done.
2. Numbers 1 and 2 components. For me, one of the goals in writing is to make our text as easy for
our readers to absorb or comprehend as possible. If it is presented in a clear and concise
manner without babbling stream of consciousness, it will definitely give an impact to our
readers.
3. Subj-Verb agreement and Punctuation. Least is the use of inappropriate words.
4. A. 5-6
b.3-4
c. 1-2
d.5-6
e. Zero Error

5. Some observations are: Students have limited and predictable vocabulary also that the write ups
were limited in content with inadequate elaboration and explanation. Some samples were copied
from the internet.

(The rubric was too general. Students used different types of writing like some samples were
written in a narrative form, some were informative, etc. I believe if your essay is written in such form
, it needs to have a specific focus.)

Example: Narrative – Sequence of events and narrative techniques (transition)

Informative – Evidences are present/ relevant facts or quotations.

6.Students often have many problems in academic writing as revealed in my study before as they
cannot provide solid analysis, vague ideas, texts are unclear, and having trouble with conventions or
mechanics.

7. a. Construction of sentences. Based from the samples, the most common writing problems
are poor structure of sentences and unclear writing.

b. Organization. (Parehas sa number 1)

c. Students have poor foundations in basic grammar and vocabulary.

d. Students remain unaware of using proper punctuations and capitalizations.

8. Writing is not everyone’s forte, but no one is exempted in learning academic writing. For each
component, the suggestion I can give is simply to teach the basic since the foundation is very low and
alarming. Student who has poor writing skills must develop a habit of writing practice on his own.
