    Type 1 seals are suitable for use in applications with high housing roughness, thermal expansion of the housing, and usage in split housings. They can tightly seal against pressure up to 0.05 MPa and provide a very secure press fit of the simmerring. However, they are only preferred for mineral oils below 100°C, greases, and normal ingress of dirt from outside. Type 2 seals can tightly seal against pressure up to 0.05 MPa and provide a very secure press fit of the simmerring. They are preferred for mineral oils below 100°C, greases, and moderate ingress of dirt from outside. However, they are only suitable for circumferential speeds below 7 m/s.
