Vodafone Business Heat Detection – User Guide
1. Introduction
Vodafone Business Heat Detection utilises leading edge thermal imaging technology
combined with Vodafone’s IoT network to help you screen individuals for a potential elevated
skin surface temperature. This can be done on-site or remotely using the Vodafone Business
Surveillance platform. The thermal camera can be configured to alert a user when a specific
threshold is exceeded and allows a user to remote stream a device on demand to the
desktop, tablet or mobile applications. The VBS architecture allows for the transmission of
near-zero latency video from encoders to multiple viewing clients.
This user guide covers the following two products within the Vodafone Business Heat Detection Portfolio:
• Ultra Duo
• Ultra
Comparison of features available in Ultra Duo & Ultra are detailed in the below Table 1.

2. Getting Started
The aim of this document is to detail the steps required to operate Vodafone Business Heat Detection and
associated capability. It is intended for users to enable them to deploy a system (once having been staged and
configured) into an area of need - construct and turn-on into an operational working system.

3.1.1 Overview
This section details how to construct the equipment from scratch into a system ready for operation - ensure
each step is carried out in the order shown; it is broken down into the following sub-sections:
4 For Ultra, it’ll be a Single head (Thermal) camera, and for UltraDuo it’ll be a Dual head (Thermal and Daylight) Camera

Place the long bolt, washer and nut through the centre
hole and tighten using a spanner.
4
TIP: ensure this is secure by attempting to move the
pole, it might require some grips to tighten further.
Using the two bolts and wheel screws set the height of
the pole of the camera, dependant on camera position
6 this may leave an average of 7 holes above the bolts.
TIP: If readjusting, remove the camera from the top to
support the weight.

4. Operational Use
4.1 Overview
The following section details the interaction required with both the Laptop and deployed remote viewing
platforms (such as an iPad) for the various applications required to operational deploy the VBHD System; it
consists of the following software’s:
• Elevated Temperature Screening (ETS) Software – The thermal app running on the laptop. This has
lots of inbuilt features (like High temperature alerts) to be able to use the kit as a stand-alone unit on
top of the remote feature.
• EdgeVis Gateway – This application must be running in order to stream footage to the encoder. The
application allows you to select a specific part of the screen to record and transmit.
• Vodafone Business Surveillance Client Applications – These applications are available on Windows
desktop and iOS & Android. The applications allow you to access alerts and footage remotely when
you have been given the correct permissions on the server.
Note: The advantage that ETS app has over EdgeVis Gateway is the ETS allows you extend the region
to reduce the chance of missed frames if the software is being used locally at the same time.
Note:
Please do not change anything in the RPI file or the Parameter control (Available only in Admin mode
under File tab) unless told to do so by a support agent.
Grab Screen and Test EV features cannot be accessed due to security reasons.
13 For Ultra, it’ll be a Single head (Thermal) camera, and for UltraDuo it’ll be a Dual head (Thermal and Daylight) Camera
14 Applicable only for UltraDuo
15 If your kit does not include ETS application, please refer the Intelligent Screenings Knowledge base article.

guidance set by your local laws, the system may automatically default to 37.3 degrees Celsius.
4.3.7 Alarms
This page allows the user to select Alarm & Logging settings, which are then factored into correction
algorithms used by the software to allow for various considerations - as shown at Figure 16 and described
in Table 10.
Selection Description
4.3.8 Miscellaneous
This page allows the user to change the Temperature metrics, Display options, set the minimum distance
required between camera & user, Black body standard deviation, NUC encoder settings as shown at
Figure 17 and described in Table 11.

Selection Description
The application is designed to start with Windows, so you should have no need for user interaction - this can
be checked by opening Hidden Icons on the Laptop to check the EV Gateway Icon is active - as shown at
Figure 18;
If for some reason the application fails to start with Windows carry out the following steps to launch the
application.
• Locate and double click the EV Gateway icon - as shown at Figure 19.
