Assignment 1

1. Perform a logical analysis of the following statements. Identify the basic propositions and logical
connectives, and then translate the statements into a set of logical propositions.

(a) Students having more than 3.00 CGPA or more than 3.5 SGPA in the previous regular
semester can register for one new extra course above the prescribed load.
(b) If a firm wishes to expand production, it will need more of the factors of production of
land, labour and capital. If the economy is already using most of its scarce resources
the firms will find it difficult o employ more and so output will not be able to rise.

2. Do exercise 50 from section 1.1.

3. Do exercises 16, 18 and 20 from section 1.2.
