VMware® vSphere® Optimization Assessment (VOA) is a sales accelerator that shows the power of Self-

driving Operations Management in 4 easy steps: Engage/Qualify, Install, Show and Sell. The VOA download

 This proven methodology has helped hundreds of partners grow their VMware and services businesses. You
can test-drive and showcase in a real data center environment the capabilities of vRealize Operations (vRealize
Operations) with a simple and interactive assessment.
You will be a strategic consultant for your customers and help them to optimize their current datacenter
infrastructure positioning the value proposition of vRealize Operations or vRealize Suite editions.
With the last two releases of vRealize Operations, we have some major improvements to VOA on the ease of
use and improved user experience for our partners and customers, such as:

 Easier to use with one-click report generation
 Revamped and expanded reports with easy to understand content
 Highlights vRealize Operations new capabilities and features
 Rolled the reclamation costs of your private cloud and cost comparisons across public clouds
If your customer is on an earlier vROps version, your first priority is to get them to upgrade and only then
perform VOA. If they are reluctant to upgrade, please ask them to deploy a vROps 7.5 instance to perform the
VOA (two instances can monitor the same environment).

Engage and Qualify


 Engage your customers with a sales call or email campaign offering VOA as a call to action     
 Explain the value prop of the vSphere Optimization Assessment:
o Management is your next big opportunity. Operations Management doubles the savings that
vSphere gives customers, and helps them solve IT problems by with visibility, capacity planning, and
application performance. 
o The vSphere Optimization Assessment program is a best practice sales tool that helps you
easily sell Intelligent Operations Management use case with a pull-trough of vRealize Operation or even
vRealize/Cloud Suite licenses on top of consultative services
o Think of it as a “mini-proof-of-concept”, or “Show & Sell”
 Qualification Process for Partners:
o As with any Proof of Concept, there’s a resource investment required on both ends for VOA
o Gain a clear understanding of the customers’ pain points and desired outcome
o Make sure vRealize Operations is the right solution for your customer
o Showcase 3 stages of VOA sample reports
o Discuss and agree on exactly what you are going to deliver in the POC
o Keep your sales counterpart involved from the beginning
o Set up date/time to install the trial version

Show

 VOA is a 2-day event. You can schedule the 2nd day based upon the customer availability to discuss
the reports.
 Product generated reports enable ongoing engagement:
o Configuration Report

o Analyze Events Report
o Summary Report
 Create Assessment Report using templates and reports provided, determine sales strategy
 Set a formal meeting with customer to review the reports and show the value of the data
 Register the opportunity in Advantage+ using “VOAINSTALL” added to project name field
