At first, it may seem that this word belongs to one of the 8 big families because it starts with a ‫م‬.
ْ ِّ َ ‫َ ر‬ َ
However, note that the ‫’م‬s in the 8 big families are َ‫’م‬s (for example: ‫ب‬ َ‫ُم ِ ر‬, ‫معل رَم‬, ‫ُماه َِد‬, etc.), not ‫’م‬s.
َ Upon
listening closely to how this word sounds, one would come to the conclusion that it sounds similar to the
‫َ ر َ ر‬ َ
words ‫ِل‬ َ ‫فاع‬, ‫ب‬
َ ِ‫ضار‬, etc. Hence, this is an ‫ اسمَفاعِل‬belonging to one of the 6 small families, specifically the
َْ َ َ َ ْ َ
َ‫َصَينَص‬ ‫ ن‬Family. Its ‫ِي‬
َ ‫ رصفَصغ‬is as follows (note: it does not have a passive version):

َthe one who remains َ َto remain َHe remains. َHe remained.
