The Ancient Education

System In India
The Education system in India mainly focuses on the Discipline,
Culture and Knowledge. There are many ancient education
systems in India and the famous among them is the Gurukul
system of Education.

Gurukulam has existed since the vedic age. Their main motto is to
develop the knowledge and they were highly focused on
education.

Students were divided into three categories like


(a) Vasu- Those obtaining education up to the age of 24.
(b) Rudra- Those obtaining education up to the age of 36.
(c) Aaditya- Those obtaining education up to the age of 48.

The Ancient system of Education had three simple process known


as Shravana, Manana and Nidhyasana. Shravana It is the
process of listening to the hearings what the teacher says. This
knowledge was technically called as Sruti. This is because the
pronunciation is of utmost importance. If the pronunciations of the
words differ, thenthe true meaning of the phrase or word will also
differ.

Manana It implies that the student needs to interpret himself the


meaning of the lessons imparted by the teacher so that they may
be assimilate fully. This will give a clear analysis on what they
hear via Shravana. This will help to remove any doubts about the
knowledge that has been received via shravana.

Nidhyasana means complete comprehension of the truth. A


student can get a realization of the hearings and analysis from
Shravana and Manana and get in to the realistic via Nidhyasana.

◆ Vallabhi etc..
