7th Grade– Drones, Graphic Design, Computer Hardware, Game Design
8th Grade A Day – Vex Robotics, 3D Modeling, Game Design, Programming

Description:
As we enter the new school year we will look closer at the preliminary stages of 3D animation, video game design, and
engineering. Each class will cover a specific branch and by the end of middle school, our students should have a deeper
understanding of each discipline of programming and engineering. This curriculum will align with classes held at A. L.
Brown High School.

Goals:
T he Common goals stretch across each curriculum.
CSD 1 - I can problem solve and collaborate using technology.
CSD 3 - I can build on coding experience by designing animations, interactive art, and games.
CSD 4 - I can understand the needs of others while developing a solution to a problem.
CSD 5 - I can collect and use data to help solve problems.
CSD 6 - I can explain and discuss the different roles of hardware including sensors, keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Requirements:
Students are required to come class prepared and on time everyday. Students that misbehave during instructional time
receive the following:
 Verbal warning
 Loss of Computer Privileges (this could mean the student watches his/her team on the next lesson or not be
allowed to use the computer)
 Phone call /email to parent

Page 1
 Serious violations will result in a student being written up and sent to the Principal. These violations could
result in parental conferences or even suspension.
Homework:
Homework will not be required for this class. Students are highly encouraged to attend class daily. Any missed time
can put a student greatly behind and the lesson will not be retaught due to time constraints.

Computer and Robotics Expectations

Students are expected to treat all equipment with care and respect. Students’ internet usage will be monitored by the
teacher daily. Any student caught off task or using a website that’s off limits will lose computer privileges. Students
who mistreat or handle equipment roughly will also lose privileges. Lastly, there will be no food or drink permitted in
the programming lab. Water kept in a clear bottle may be kept under a student’s seat, but is not allowed on the working
desk when computers or equipment are present. Students who cannot follow these expectations will receive
consequences mentioned in the “requirements” section. A student can eventually lose all programming lab privileges.

Materials:
 All materials will be provided. Students are expected to treat all electronics and robotics kits with respect. A
failure to do so can that student temporarily or permanently removed from the class and placed into a
different encore.
