Schoology

Homework: Will be given as needed for journal writing, contracts, projects, current events, and
prep for quizzes/tests. These assignments will be posted on schoology, in the classroom, and
written in the student planner.

Evaluation/Grading:
Student grades will be calculated as stated below using the average of all grades on tests, quizzes,
projects, written assignments; Modular generated activities and lab participation. Zeros will be given
for work not completed at the conclusion of the grading period.
Reassessment: Reassessment will be allowed if a student receives a grade below the 80% minimum
proficiency level on a required course competency. The student will be reassessed up to one week
before the end of the grading period. It is the responsibility of the student\parent to schedule this
reassessment before school, after school, or during lunch.

Late work/Make-up Work:


Late work will be accepted with a 10% penalty except for excused absences. Late work must be
completed before the end of the grading period. Make-up work will be accepted for all absences.
The student must submit work within 3 days upon returning to school.

Required Materials: Students should bring their student planner, paper and the required writing tool to
class each day.

FCCLA is an integral part of Teen Living. Meetings will be held during class monthly and after school. All students are
encouraged to participate.
Lab/Project Fees: Please make check payable to CLMS. Please write your childs name in the memo space
6th Grade $ 12.00-fee includes sew kit, food lab consumables, and FCCLA affiliation dues ($ 2.00).
7th Grade $ 12.00-fee includes sew kit, food lab consumables, and FCCLA affiliation dues (2.00)
8th Grade $ 12.00 includes Simplicity Pattern, food lab consumables, and FCCLA affiliation dues only
(2.00). Additionally, grade 8 students will be required to shop for fabric and notions from a local
fabric store.

Class Rules
1. Remove your gum before entering the classroom.
2. Be on time.
3. Bring all needed materials, planner and supplies to class everyday.
4. Stay in your seat/module during class unless you are given permission by the teacher.
5. No bottled water or drinks will be allowed in the lab.
6. Stay on Task
7. Be polite and respectful of yourself, your classmates and the teacher.
8. Have a good attitude.
9. Seek extra help when needed either before school or after school.
10. Turn in written assignments/projects on time.
11. Follow module procedures outlined by the teacher
12. All students will stop talking and focus his/her attention to the teacher when prompted by
raising the hand and not yelling.
BYOD
1. The student will follow all guidelines established by Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
2. The student will only respond to and use his or her cell phone as a device to incorporate
technology during class as directed by the teacher.

Discipline:

Disciplinary violations will result in detentions or immediate referral to the office. Every attempt
will be made to communicate concerns to the parent prior to assigning detentions or referrals.
Please be aware that all students are expected to follow all school rules. It is the responsibility
of the student to know the policies of the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.

Tardy: If you are not physically in the room you are considered tardy. All students should
strive to be in your seat, prepared for class and quiet when the teacher arrives.
Safety First: Classroom doors must remain closed and locked when occupied by students,
teachers and staff. Students are not allowed to open classroom doors so please be on time. Late
students disrupt classroom instruction.

Consequences:

1st Warning = Phone Call/E-mail


2nd Warning= Pre-Detention Form, parent/guardian signature required
3rd Offense = Detention/Phone Call
4th Offense = Office Referral
