NOW YOU KNOW

Credibility

Don’t get confused my friend of what you’re hearing from

political issues in our local radio stations presented by
newscasters, public affairs and commentary programs. If you
are short-minded you’d surely be utterly confused, because
they all seem true, others make you doubt. You cannot fix your
mind who are the right candidates to vote on May 13.
The truth my friend is that some of us cannot yet decide on
the choices between sitting governor Berto Uy of the LP-PDP(?)
and Cong. Bullet Jalosjos of the APP-HNP for the governatorial
position; and reelectionist Mayor Darrel Uy and former
governor Rolando Yebes for Dipolog City leadership, because of
confusion, hearing issues presented differently by program
hosts.

XXXX

Now let me suggest that you should understand the nature

of a public affairs program from that of a commentary.
A public affairs program is a public participated show. The
program host entertains calls and text messages or letters from
outside source and issues are treated fairly by the broadcaster.
I would like to cite as an example ,the KASAYURAN of DXFL
anchored by a long-time announcer, genuine Zanortehanon and
Dipolognon Edionar “Loloy” Zamoras.
I pick him from among the local PA program hosts because
Zamoras handles Kasayuran in adherence to KBP rules and
regulations.
Listen to him and he won’t disappoint you as he receives
calls and read text messages or letters even from those of the
opposite camp against his conviction because he is running for
the city council of Dipolog under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Meaning, he does not discriminate participants regardless of
color. That’s the role of a public affairs program.
It is important my friend that you also know the credibility
of this program’s host. He must be one who knows what he’s
talking about as he entertains callers. Zamoras had been a city
councilor of Dipolog and once a member the Provincial Board
of Zamboanga del Norte. As such, he knows his points when
matters of governance are presented to his program. A public
affairs program host is one who is open-minded so that he
won’t be biased in treating issues on hand. You can prove that
in Kasayuran.

XXXX
On the other hand, a commentary program is the property
of the commentator. He is an authority to his program,
authority over the people he talks about in his show. This
program is more of the commentator’s views and opinions
about any person in his program – this time the politicians who
are subject of his commentary should also know that a
commentator can make or unmake one’s personality. Yes, he
speaks with authority and is entitled to his opinion. He is an
opinion-maker.
It is therefore important that you also know the credibility
of the commentator – if you can trust this person and his
words.

XXXX

But my friend, do not depend completely on information

from the media. You also need to know for yourself who are
the right candidates to elect this May 13.
The Comelec itself like us to know our candidates and their
platforms. It is a voter’s responsibility.

XXXX
Now, if you have made up your mind who to vote, do not
change your decision for money’s sake. Don’t sell your vote my
friend. Be a conscience voter. Just that!

XXXX

What do you think?

Groups seek catholic vote against Duterte candidates in
May.
Reaction: No such thing as Catholic vote.

Belated happy birthday to Rowena Regencia-Heniel who

had a happy bonding with her former classmates and friends
and barkadas from Dipolog City Institute of Technology (DCIT)
on March 2. Together with Rowena were Jean Descallar, Rose
Necosia Dang, Salome Buaya Naquila, Elsie Tabo Garcia, Evelyn
Patangan Tacuyan, Elvie Linao and Jaclyn lacay. Rowena was
once a short-time apprentice at DXKD as a radio technician in
the 90s. Upon seeing me this time, Rowena says she’s happy to
see Auntie Sally again after years, still “alive and kicking.” Thank
you Rowena. God bless!
Think before you talk. Be tactful and be appreciated. Just a
friendly reminder.
