MIMAROPA REGION IV- B

MIMAROPA is an administrative region of the Philippines. It is one of two regions of the


Philippines having no land border with another region, Eastern Visayas being the other, and is
designated as Region IV-B. The name is an acronym combining the names of its provinces,
which are: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. The
region is also more formally known as Southern Tagalog Islands.

MINDORO
The mangyans are the indigenous people of Mindoro, the 7th largest island of the Philippines.
Malasibo festival upholds sustain eco-cultural development and the preservation of the
indigenous culture and heritage of the mangyan tribes of Mindoro.
Some of mangyan crafts:
Mangyan bracelet, mangyan crafts, mangyan script, mangyan designs of pakudos.
MARINDUQUE
Moriones festival also plays a prominent role in marinduque’s culture. Moriones festival is a
festival held on holy week on the island of Marinduque, Philippines. The “moriones” are men
and women in costumes and masks replicating the garb of biblical roman soldiers as interpreted
by local folks.

-Barangay residents learn art ceramics and pottery making. It is also seen as a viable project that
will encourage entrepreneurship especially among women.
ROMBLON
Romblon known as the Marble Country of the Philippines.
