Connect the headset to the main console as the illustration below and prepare a
teaching material for next study.

Turn on the main switch to supply the electric power source to all equipment.
Turn on the ① Monitor power on → ② Computer → ③ Main console.
(Please follow this sequence to ensure a proper role of DATA Communication
management for system operation.)
Then, Windows runs and you will see the initial screen.

2) Starting the program


(1) When you click the 『Start』menu(①), choose the 『Program』(②) by
moving the bar upwards, and select the Digital-LabServer(③) on the
pop-up menu, then you will see the program run icon and the help
icon(④). Click this(④) to run the program.
(2) Alternatively, You can double-click on DLab Server shortcut icon(⑤) of
the Windows desktop.

2-1. REGISTRATION AND ASSIGNMENT OF GRADE AND CLASS

* When you register the grade and class, you can construct the entire (for a grade & class)
student DATABASE.

1) If general mode for language lab operating system is operated, registration screen for grade
and class is shown.

The screen(②) for grade & class management is shown by clicking the grade(class)
management(①).
First, register the grade. For a new grade assignment(⑨), click Add button(③), input
grade into the white box marked Grade Name(⑦) and click Save(④) button.
For a new class assignment(⑩), click Add button(⑤), input class name into the white box
marked Class Name(⑧) and click Save(⑥) button.

3) Assignment
The class list(⑫) registered in that grade is shown by clicking the grade in the
grade list(⑪).
After clicking the class(⑫), just click Go(⑭).

※ The number of grade can be set as 10 grades and the number of class can set 30 for a grade.
If the course of study is proceeding without grade & class registration, just click
Common Class(⑮).

2-2. CONVINIENT MOUSE USAGE


* Language lab program of Windows environment is the product maximizing the use of
mouse. The mouse consists of left mouse key and right mouse key like the picture
below. Click the left key to start the pointed program and click the right key to
see the pop-up menu. Drag the needed function and click the function with left key
to start.

Click the UP, DOWN button(①) to control the volume(default value is set as 0,
MUTE).

Volume setting is control as Low, Medium and Loud(②).


Click MUTE button to muffle the sound of speaker for a while.

Click UP, DOWN button(③) to control(Default level is 5).


Only a teacher can control up to 10 steps.

* This icon is used to give important announcements or notices.


1) Click the Group Select icon(①)(Default is ALL) and click the Call icon(②).
Next, give announcement over microphone or headse

* For the clarification and further explanation of teaching material.


1) Click the Voice Material For Studying icon. Next, explain the material for
study over microphone or headset.
Then, to enable or disable key appear as a active or inactive(grayed out) key
and additional data appears at the bottom left of state display window.
Click the Cancel icon to cancel the function.

2-8. TRANSMITTING AN IMAGE AND TEACHER'S CONTROL SCREEN

* Teacher can select a picture as textbook and broadcast it to both teacher's monitor
and student's monitor.
1) According to selecting mode(VCR, CD-ROM, scanner visual presenter, etc), the image
appears in the support window.
2) During starting the equipment, loading screen is shown and during output of image,
the screen shown up.

3-1. MONITORING A STUDENT

1) Select a student seat number(①).
The student's info. Is shown on the status
window and the student's voice is monitored

through headset.
2) The picture and No. for the selected student
is shown(②). ②
4) When you select the next student, monitoring for present student exit and new student
is monitored.
5) During self-study, the visual material info. that student is monitoring can be shown
on student information box and also the screen that student is monitoring can be
shown on monitor multi distributor(③).
6) Click CANCEL Icon(④) to exit.

3-3. RESPONDING TO STUDENT CALL

1) Press Call Key to show the call state on the student seat.

2) To respond, double-click the Seat NO. and click the INTERCOM( ) icon.
3) When two or more student respond, click INTERCOM icon and click the student's
seat one by one(up to 3 students).
4) Teacher can ignore a call or initialize
the calling student by clicking
the Call VIEW(①) icon to switch
to the calling hide mode.

* Voice of a selected student is broadcasted to a group or to all. Just like in an


oral recitation.
1) After clicking CALL ICON by selecting group(ALL,A,B,C,D), click the No. of seat
for a monitored student.
2) The course of study are done by selecting the next student continuously.
3) Function cancellation by clicking icon for GROUP CANCEL or CANCEL.

3-5. MODEL SPEECH

* Model speech means that while a selected student is having a conversational


exercise with the teacher, their conversation is being broadcasted to the class.
In this mode, only the selected student can interact with the teacher while the
rest of the class could only listen.
1) During broadcasting the speech of the selected student, click the Call icon.
2) The course of study is proceeded by selecting the next student continuously.
3) Function cancellation by clicking icon for CANCEL.
The contents of conversation between No. 5 The contents of conversation between No. 5
and teacher are transmitted to a group. and teacher are transferred to all students.

3-6. AUTO SCAN MONITOR

* The auto scan function is used to monitor the whole class automatically.
1) Click on the auto setting Icon(①). First, it proceeds per 5seconds by ascending order.

The scanning order is determined by clicking the
ascending, descending or random selecting button.
Time limit is controlled by moving the button(④).

Speed To control the speed of the study tape as 3 steps during

2) Listening a tape

* Put a study tape in deck.


(1) Press Play(▷) button(①) to advance a tape and the color of play button is
shown as red on LCD.
(2) Press Rewind(◁◁) button(②) to rewind a tape and REW is shown as red
on LCD.
(3) Press the Fast Forward(▷▷) button(③) Icon details of moving
to advance a tape quickly and the color position of mouse pointer
of FF button is shown as red on LCD.
(4) Press the STOP(□) button(④) to stop
a tape and the color of stop button is
shown as black on LCD and PAUSE button
is red on LCD.

3) Editing teaching material

* For student to read a sentence, teacher sets the length of pause time between the
sentence.
(1) Press『EDIT』button(①) to set the editing function and the color of edit "EDIT 1"
button and TIME is shown as red on LCD.
(2) By pressing 『Edit Time』button(②), the time is increased according to the length of
sentence. The length of pause time is shown as 1,2,3,4, on LCD.(Initial setting is 1)
(3) If the playback is started after setting pause time, the tape will pause and playback
after a sentence is repeated according to the set pause time.
(4) Press 『Edit』button(①) again to clear the set conditions.

* Record the student's practice and teaching material.


(1) Press 『REC』button(①) to be on standby and the record mode is shown.
(2) Select the Recording Type(②). First, it is set as General mode. If you set it as
HIGH SPEED mode, it is recorded as 2 * speed.
(3) Click the Moving the Record Position Icon(③) to move the desired position.
(4) Set the Origin Control(④) and the Object Recorder(⑤).

5) Repeat Function

(1) Sentence Back To repeat a sentence that has just been played.
Press sentence back button『S/B』button(①) to listen a sentence once again that
has just been played during playback and display REPEAT as red on LCD.
If you press this button during stopping after playback, you can listen a sentence
(However, it is operated after playing one block. You cannot check the very short
sentence or block.)

(2) Repeat To listen to a sentence that has just been played repeatedly
Listen to a sentence that has just been played during the playback.
ⓐ Press 『REPEAT』button(②) to start recording setting and the color of REPEAT is
changed as red on LCD.
ⓑ Press 『REPEAT』button(②) to end recording setting and repeat the set interval.
The color of sentence time and IC TIME is red on LCD and the color of REPEAT is
to be red.
ⓒ To clear IC, press 『REPAET』button(②) or STOP(③).

(3) Block Repeat To listen the blocked sentence repeatedly


During playing back a tape, the desired block is repeated for 3 times.
ⓐ Press the 『Block Repeat』button(④) to mark starting of block the color of
REPEAT is to be red on LCD.
ⓑ Press Block Repeat』button(④) again to mark end of block repeat and the color
of REPEAT is to be red on LCD.
ⓒ then, the tape is rewind and the desired block is repeated for 3 times.
ⓓ To clear the function, press the 『Block Repeat』button(④).
ⓔ If the Block Repeat end, the tape play again.

6) Play a sentence

it is used to play a sentence from the tape and will automatically stop as soon as
the recorder finds a gap between sentences.

(1) Whenever pressing 『Play a Sentence』button(⑤), advance the next sentence.


(2) After listening a sentence, practice a speech.

7) Bookmarks

This memorizes a desired tape position and would automatically search that
specified location on the tape.
(1) bookmark setting
If you press 『Bookmark』button(⑥) at the position that you want to memorize
during the tape play, it is memorized as bookmark 1 and the color of MEMO1 is
red on LCD.
A maximum number of 5 bookmarks is only available and it is memorized gradually
when you press the button.
(2) Find bookmark
By pressing bookmark number button (⑦) that you want to find, it will
re-position the tape of the desired bookmark number by rewinding of
fast-winding.
(3) Clear Bookmark
Press 『Reset』button(⑧).
All the MEMO and set bookmark number will be cleared.

* When playing a desired bookmark on tape, the selected bookmark will blink.
(only the recorder LCD)

8) Memory
To memory the desired position by using tape counter.

(1) Press the MEMO』button(①) at the position that you want to memorize to memorize the
tape counter and ⓜ mark will be red on LCD.
(2) Pressing the 『REWIND』 or 『Fast Forward』 button, find the memorized position.
It would halt on the memorized position.
(3) To clear memo, press 『RESET』 button(②) or 『Memo』button(①) again.

4-2. VCR TAPE


* When the VCR start, the background screen is shown and the screen is shown
up during output of image.

1) Turn VCR power on to play VCR.


Click the VCR icon(①).
Then, the image display on monitor screen supply the window for teacher and it is printed
by student's monitor or TV. The basic operation for VCR is operated by using remote
controller.

* In the environment of related program supported by MPEG BOARD or TV received


card embedded on computer, image input mode should be set as VTR.

You can be used by registering the run file name of CD or windows program

* Listening test is done by evaluating student's answer during a question and answer
session. Teacher use the master cassette or microphone as text and grade the
students according to their response time & their correct answer.

1) Setting the listening test text


In case if using the microphone for teacher, prepare the answer sheet. In case of
using master recorder, prepare the recording tape for test.

2) Creating the answer sheet


By using the correct answer control program(See page 35), create the test answer
sheets in advance.

* Control the student's client program and PC in teacher's PC.


1) Exit the Client Program
If you select the object(Group, All) in the COMPUTER CONTROL ⇒ Exit the STUDENT
PROGRAM on menu or select [Exit the Student Program] in the [All or Group Control]
on pop-up menu by clicking the right mouse on the seat setting window, you can exit
the program for student.
2) Student's PC rebooting
If you select the object(Group, All) in the COMPUTER CONTROL ⇒ STUDENT COMPUTER
REBOOTING on menu or select [Student's Computer Rebooting] in the [All or Group
Control] on pop-up menu by clicking the right mouse on the seat setting window, you
can reboot the student's PC.
3) Exit the student's PC
If you select the object(Group, All) in the COMPUTER CONTROL ⇒ Exit the STUDENT
COMPUTER on menu or select [Exit the Student's computer] in the [All or Group
Control] on pop-up menu by clicking the right mouse on the seat setting window, you
can exit the student's PC.

1) When you select the NETWORK TEST ⇒ TEST RUN on menu, appear the network test
tool in the screen window.(Password:2696-1435)

2) In case of checking the send/receive state of serial communications


(1) If you click the test mode button(①), test button(③) is active and test
mode button(①) is changed into view mode button(②). If you press the test
button(③), run the communication test and the result is displayed in the list.
If you want to clear the results, press the Clear Button(④).

(2) If you press the View Mode button(②), you can see the sent/receive states of
communication data. At the same time, View mode button(②) is changed into
Test Mode button(①).

3) In case of checking the connection state


If you click the connection test button, test the current main console, booth
amplifier, or connection state of recording time and display the results.

11-1. FILE TRANSMISSION

* File Server is the management program that transmit the file to use as textbook per
All, Personal, per group. File Server program select the CONTROL PROGRAM ⇒ FILE
TRANSMISSION on menu or click the ( ) button to run. The program consists of
the menu, Explorer window, student's list and file list window.

1) Menu bar

(1) Find
Enter all or parts of the file name in the input box.
(2) Search
Within the selected folder in the Explorer windows, search the file equal to
the entered search word. This is the same as the function of <File/ Folder
Search> in Windows.
(3) Add File
In the Explorer windows, add the selected file to transmission list.
(4) Delete File
Delete the file within the transmission list.
(5) Send
In the student list, send the file of transmission list to the selected
student, group.
(6) List Initialization
Initialize the student's list and transmission list information.
(7) Exit
Exit The File Server program.

2) Explorer window
In the left screen, folder structure of computer(Server) for teacher appear as tree
form. In the right screen, the files within the folder appear. Select the file to
add in the list by mouse in the right window.

It shows the student's list to receive the file and text file's list to send.

11-2. . FILE TRANSMISSION

1. select the CONTROL PROGRAM ⇒ FILE TRANSMISSION on


menu or click the ( ) button to run.
2. Select the target to send per ALL, Group, Personal
in the student's list.
If the target group or target student's client
program is not active, It display as "impossible"
in the state box and we can not transmit the file.
3. Select the file to send in the Explorer windows and
Student list screen
press [Add File] button to add it to transmission
file list. Add the file to send as the same method.

4. If the file addition is done


in the list, press the [Send]
button to send the file.
The file is saved in the class
folder within [DWC_5000_DATA]
folder.

5. If you want to delete the file in the list,


select the file in the list and delete it by clicking the [Delete File] button.
If you delete all the lists, press the [List Initialization] button to initialize
the list.

* It converts the WAV file to MP3 file.

(1) Press [Conversion] button to select the WAV file to convert in the Explore

(2) In the [Save as], enter the file name, set the location to save MP3 file to
convert, and press the [Save] button.

(3) If the message window appears indicating that the file conversion is done,
press the [OK].

※ MP3 file conversion is available in the WAV file form only currently.

DURING LISTENING TEST: To select a correct answer(Up to 5 programs can be selected ).
④ TEACHER CALLING BUTTON : To call the teacher to talk.
