ORDER

I. The Board of Studies in Law (UG), during the meeting held on


26.05.2015, recommended the following.

1. To introduce Malayalam / Hindi in the 8th, 9th and 10th semesters of


the existing 5 year BA (Criminology), LLB (Honours) Course (prior to 2015 admissions).
As all the practical papers are put into the 10 th semester, it is recommended to equally
distribute the practical papers in the 8th, 9th and 10th semesters in the following manner.

3. Corrections in the existing 5 year Integrated Double Degree Courses (Prior to 2015
admissions):
(i) B.Com LLB - 6th semester FL 18 is corrected as Constitutional Law II.
(ii) BA (Crim.) LLB (Hons) - 6th semester FL 19 is corrected as Banking Law and
Negotiable Instruments.
(iii) BBA LLB - 6th semester FL 18 is corrected as Constitutional Law II.

II. The Board of Studies in Law (UG), during the meeting held on
18.09.2015, recommended (i) to introduce Malayalam / Hindi to the existing B.Com
LLB (Hons.) Course (prior to 2015 admissions), as in the case of BA (Crim) LLB
(Hons.) Course. As all the practical papers are put into the 10th semester, it is
recommended to distribute the practical papers from 7 th semester onwards, rearranging
the subjects in the following manner.

(ii) The Committee further recommended not to introduce Malayalam / Hindi to


the BBA LLB (Hons) Course, as there is no second language for BBA Courses under the
University. In the existing syllabus of BBA LLB (Hons) Course there are only 16 subjects,
but as per the Bar Council Regulations there should be 20 subjects which are non-law.

(iii) Re arrangement of subjects of B.Com LLB (Hons) (I – X Semesters) and


BBA LLB (Hons) (I & II Semesters only) from 2015 -16 admission onwards, as follows.

(iv) Readmission of Internal Examination – 5 year LLB (old scheme)


The Order No.Ac.AIV/3/558/CC/LLB/2003 dated 28th June 2003, of the Core
Committee by which it was provided that the students may be permitted to rejoin for the
purpose of reassessment of internal assessment only after the completion of the course and
can be made available only once. The students should avail this facility within a period of
one academic year after the completion of the course. Since Double Degree LLB course was
introduced as per the decision of the Bar Council, there is no existing course for the students
to redo the internal assessment and hence, the Board resolved to recommend that the students
may be permitted to redo the subjects along with the existing 5 year or 3 year LLB batches
subject to the availability of the equivalent subjects, provided they apply within one
academic year. There is no facility to redo the pre law subjects in 5 year LLB double degree
course.

(v) Re admission to 5 year LLB (old scheme)


If the students passed the BAL degree of the 5 year LLB degree course, they may be
permitted to join along with the corresponding 3 year LLB course.

III. To approve the syllabi of Hindi/ Malayalam and Alternate Dispute Resolution
of the VIII Semester BA (Criminology) LLB Course, submitted vide paper
read (iii) above.

Sanction has therefore been accorded by the Pro Vice Chancellor in charge of
Vice-Chancellor, exercising powers of the Academic Council, under section 10 (17), chapter
3 of the Mahatma Gandhi University Act 1985, to approve the above recommendations of the
Board of Studies in Law (UG) during the meetings held on 26.05.2015 and 18.09.2015 and
the syllabi of Hindi/ Malayalam and Alternate Dispute Resolution of the VIII Semester BA
(Criminology) LLB (Honours) Course.
