Depression Research Analysis
When we conduct research we usually follow a series of steps. These steps help us define what problem we
are going to investigate and assist us in discovering the truth about or the cause of the problem. In analysing
this research please follow these steps.
Step 1
 Define depression.
 Identify the symptoms
 Find out what percentage of young people suffer from depression.
Step 2
 From the questionnaire percentages, identify 3 interesting results and suggest what percentage of
FSC Year 10 students may have been experiencing the symptoms of depression.
Step 3
 List how many students I surveyed
 Identify ONE advantage and ONE disadvantage of questionnaires (p.144 of the text will help)
Step 4
 Display the results in a table showing the percentage for each question
Step 5
 Answer the following questions regarding the results
1. Do these results support the research you have done on adolescent depression statistics? Explain.
2. Is there another explanation for the results achieved? Choose an answer to ONE of the questions and
explain.
3. What improvement(s) would you suggest to the questionnaire? Modify an existing question OR add an
additional question and explain.
