The page mentions the positive and negative impact of

globalization on culture

The Positive Impacts:

 Allows self-representation and Information sharing

- This provides a medium where depiction of images and portrayals of self-identity can provide the
means in which truism can be established. Global media centers allow cultures a distinctive voice to
promote awareness and provide public knowledge and understanding of their stories and identities.

Ex: People making indie-games some indie games are design by individuals from different nation with
this they can express their culture on that medium and this results on the interest of other peoples.

 Technology can be used to

preserve language, customs and culture
-With Technology we can preserve a certain culture that has been long extinct and compared to past
which required records through books or papers but now that we are in the future those records are
now In the safe and if the original was lost it’s duplicate still lived on through the use of technology
Ex: The Latin language despite no longer spoken by the people “although the roman Catholics or other
organization use it” it can still be learned through the use of internet just simply search for it on google
translate and it’s there

Negative Impacts:

 Loss of individualism
- With the influenced to other culture People will become estranged with their own culture in favor of
Adopting either western idealism or other idealism.
Ex: if you ask about some Filipino youth about Filipino deities like they cant answer them but if you
question about Greek deities they can answer some of them

 Allows Further colonialization

- The page explains when a individual or company takes advantages of things that are cultural rights
from an icon, Song, or Cultural Artifacts.
Ex: here in this link: https://www.wmagazine.com/story/kim-kardashian-kimono-trademark-controversy-
explained/ explains Kim Kardashian copyrights the word “kimono” the Japanese traditional clothing for an
underwear product and gets backlash by it as a result with other calling it an “cultural appropriation” of the
kimono name for an underwear brand.

Summary:

- Globalization can help promote one countries and empower one’s

people, provide a means for self-representation, and collective identity
with the use of technology one nation can promote their culture can
help business not only for them for the economy of the country as well
with the use of internet people can have access to musics, images ,
videos etc... Meaning that they can learn different culture due to the
communication and sharing they received either to social media or
educational websites.

Conclusion:

despite with globalization’s flaws, like the clashing with other cultures due to either
religion or ideas that might offend or considered as an insult to another nation and it’s
society or the endangerment of one culture in favor of a the dominant culture mostly
“either due to westernization or an culture that is more well-known and unique ” as
stated above globalization can help one nation’s culture either through business or
empowerment and promoting it.
Cultures often retain their unique features even as they borrow and adopt features of
other cultures
they interact with. Philippines is again another example despite adopting culture from
Americans, Spaniards, Chinese we still retain our customs, and clothing even our way
of farming “daro” still retains.
Globalization “no matter if it’s positive or negative” impacts the local and global trade,
commerce, leisure, entertainment, and other areas of human interaction and provides
an enriching individual experience tempered and allows him/her to interact with the
processes of globalization in a very personal way.
