Research Prospectus
Your research prospectus should include the following:
1. The statement of your central research questions. This may be followed by one or
two secondary, supporting questions.

2. Brief background on the general area of investigation, and the topic you intend to pursue. It
can be helpful to the reader to understand your personal interest in this topic, so you may want to
include a brief description of personal interest. You may also wish to describe your assumptions
about the answer(s) to your research question(s).

3. Proposed methodology. Describe your research setting, what kind of evidence you plan to
collect, how you plan to collect it. How will you assess your data? How will you decide what
evidence is relevant to answering your central question, and what is irrelevant?

4. Statement of Significance. Briefly describe the significance of your study.

5. Short Bibliography. Include an annotated bibliography 3-4 references that inform your study.
