NOTE
Operation of the spray lubrication system
when the mill is not rotating can cause an
accumulation of lubricant in the gear teeth
resulting in serious damage.
ON-LINE CHECKS
‘The following checks should be made at least once each
shift:
a. Check that the trunnion bearing lubrication system
strainers and filters are not by-passing.
b, Check the pressures, flows and temperatures on the
trunnion bearing lubrication system.
cc. Check the gear-pinion spray lubrication system by
manual push butwau. Assure diat all muzcles are
spraying properly.
4. Check and record the temperatures of the pinion
shaft bearings,
. Check the pressure and flows of the pinion bearing
lubrication system.
f, Check the Speed Reducers for piessure, temperature
‘and proper operation.
g. Check the trunnion bearing lubrication system
pump for unusual noise.
h. Check that head, shell and grate Tiner bolts are not
eaking.
RUNNING UNDER LOAD
The mill should be charged with 38% (% of mill
volume) of 2 inch diameter balls. In the interest of
attaining the maximum mill power draw, in the earliest
possible time, graduated ball sizes may be used. The
till should thei be sun with ure feed.
SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE
To shut down the mill, proceed as follows:
2, Press the mill stop button. This will stop the mill
motors hut leave the beering Iuhrication systems
‘operating.
b, Leave the trunnion bearing lubrication systems
operating until mill heads and shell temperatures
have stabilized to room temperature
‘¢. Ensure that the gear lubrication system is shut off
when the mill is shut down,
4. Stop the pinion bearing lubrication system.
fe, Stop the Speed Reducer lubrication system.
