Summary
Biomorphic design is a design where forms and masses have organic abstract forms
that seem to be mobile, vibrant and far from geometric fixed forms. Biomorphic or organic
forms are linked to the natural processes which allow the designer to explore the natural
world, without being directly represented.
The history of architecture has been associated largely with the biomorphic
architecture & since centuries-long- even in the most primitive assets- the architecture was
already biomorphic with its forms associated with all kinds of forms of living organisms,
whether plant or animal. The primitive architecture was radically organic & based on the
natural forms & structures.
By the beginnings of the twentieth century, the cultural and philosophical thought has
been influenced by the various natural philosophies, which encouraged the interest in nature
and processes of life and therefore the attention to the science of biology and increased
scientific discoveries in that area, which had great impact on art, architecture and interior
design, which was characterized by the increasing influences inspired by vital & biological
research , where artistic expressions & designs that have been taken from nature and
biological forms - the perception of designs that are described by biomorphic design.
As a result of the growing influence of knowledge on the scope of life and the great
transformation in the beginning of the twenty-first century from the simplicity of the
realities of modernity in more complex and flow way towards the facts based on the
sciences of biology, mathematics and cosmology - related to the study of nature - the impact
of this was largely on architecture and interior design, where we are witnessing the
emergence of new forms of design that could not be considered before, which were devised
and implemented by the help of the rapid development in computer software technologies,
which tend towards alien biological blobby forms or non-specific features, which defy
formal design languages of classic & modern design, confirming on approaching changing
formal patterns of nature which will force the interior designer to find innovative design
ideas and solutions and for those spaces, which can be reached through the study of the
natural elements, not only From a formal point of view, but also through the link between
form and function in nature.
Creative processing in interior spaces is a vision resulted by the ability & capacity of
the designer in dealing with the vocabulary and elements through using of expression tools
in new contexts to deliver a particular meaning, which in turn becomes an inherent force
that stimulate the recipient and make him effective in the process of perception and analysis
hence understanding and explanation. Hence, the research is discussing an analytical study
of biomorphic design to reach the purpose of the main idea and also to create interior
designs that are more organized in the relations to serve the interior designer in the process
of devising creative biomorphic interior environment.
The research is divided into three main sections as follows:
Section I: The Contemporary Concept of Biomorphic Design of Interior Spaces:
 Chapter I: The Emergence & Evolution of Biomorphic Thought in the Modern Era.
 Chapter II: Biomorphic Design Towards the 21st Century.

Section II: General Features & Items of Biomorphic Formation of Contemporary Interior
Spaces:
 Chapter I: Formal Analysis for Biomorphic Spaces.
 Chapter II: Plastic Processing of Biomorphic Spaces.

Section III: Biomorphic Design as a Remodeling of Traditional Spaces:

 Chapter I: Study of Global Models for the Use of Biomorphic Design as a
Remodeling of Traditional Spaces
 Chapter II: A Practical Study of the Biomorphic Design Curriculum Proposed for
Remodeling a Traditional Residential Interior Space. Through an analytical study of
the model of a typical traditional stereotyped housing unit and remodeling it through
biomorphic processing & the application of biomorphic design strategies learned from
research on functional and aesthetic processing of all the elements of the Interior
architecture of the proposed model.
After the completion of the conceptual framework and practical application of research a
set of conclusions and recommendations had been drawn.
