INTERSECTION OF SOLIDS

SHEET 1A
1. Vertical sq. prism of 50mm edge of base & axis is 110mm standing on its base with a vertical
face making 300 to V.P. It is completely penetrated by a horizontal sq. prism of 40mm edge of
base & 110mm axis . It is parallel to V.P. and 10mm in front of the axis of the vertical prism &
inclined at 300 to H.P. Draw curve of intersection.
2. A pentagonal prism side of base 60mm and height 100mm long is lying on the H.P. on one of
its pentagonal base, such that an edge of base is parallel to V.P. and nearer to it. The axis of the
prism is parallel to V.P. and perpendicular to H.P. This prism is penetrated by horizontal cylinder
of base diameter 70mm and length 120mm such that the axis of both the prism and cylinder
bisect each other at right angle. Draw the projection showing the curves of intersection.
SHEET 1B
1. A vertical cone , diameter of base 100mm and axis 90mm long is penetrated by a horizontal
cylinder of 45mm diameter, the axis of which is 8mm away from the cone. Draw the projection
showing lines of intersection when the plane containing the two axis is parallel to the V.P. & axis
of horizontal cylinder is 27mm above H.P.
2. A vertical cone base 75mm & axis 90mm is penetrated by vertical cylinder 50mm dia. The
axis of cylinder is parallel & 10mm away from axis of cone. Draw the projection showing
intersection of curves.
