Graphic Design Syllabus

Description
This course will focus on becoming acquainted with graphic design techniques, principles of page layout
and design, and photo editing. Various software, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, will
be used in this course.

Course Outline
Unit 1: Photoshop Basics

Unit 2: Intro to Design Elements

Unit 3: Font Portfolio

Unit 4: Logos and Ads

Unit 5: Photoshop Movie Posters

Unit 6: Adobe Illustrator

We will be using a class website that can be found at this address and through a link on our school’s

You do need to have a Google account that we will set up, in order to be able to access our site since I
have the site security as private. The following information will be available on the site:

 Calendar that details when assignments are due

Open Lab
I am available to open the lab at lunch and after school. You must let me know ahead of time if you will
need the lap during these times, so I can open it for you.

Grades
Your grade will be determined through the following:
 In class assignments/tutorials
 Quizzes
 Projects
 Final at end of Semester
