T - Tune In (to the topic)

Ask the class about certain problems and issues, play the beginning of the recorded item then pause it.

Ask the students what could possibly be the topic all about. (list it on the board) (predict what the
selection is all about)

Q – Questions students generate

The teacher will continue playing the next part and let the students listen to it and ask them to
formulate their own questions based on what they will be listening to.

After listening to the selection, go back to the possible answers listed on the board and circle the correct
one by asking the students “Which one is the correct answer based on what you listened to?”

After listening to the text, what issues do you think will the speaker address to his talk? Kindly share
with the class the question which you would like to ask to the speaker. (list the questions on the board)

The teacher will continue playing the next part of the text and will ask the students to listen more
attentively.

“Let us listen to the next part of the speech, I would like to find out which of the questions which you
had raised earlier will be answered in the next segment of the talk.”

After playing the next part, go back to the questions posted on the board and ask the students which of
those questions were answered in the talk. Check the questions that were answered in the speech they
had just listened to and cross out the ones which were not. It is important to make the learners
generate their own questions to empower them to think critically.

After knowing the questions answered in the text, ask the class again the questions:

1. What problem did the speaker cite in the segment you just have heard a while ago?
2. How did you prove his point?

After the student provided reason on proving the point of the speaker, the teacher will replay the text
and will ask the students to say stop on the part which they will hear the said evidence/s.

L – Listen to the text

R – Respond to the questions
