2. perform a role playing with dialogues that use conjunctive adverbs.
3. supply the correct conjunctive adverb in the sentence; and
4. construct sentences with conjunctive adverbs;

C. Lesson Proper

Conjunctive adverbs
 Words that join independent clauses into one sentence.
 It helps you create a shorter sentence.
 When you use a conjunctive adverb, put a semicolon ( ; ) before it and a
comma ( , ) after it.

Examples of conjunctive adverbs:


finally, however, otherwise, then, therefore.

Finally – at the end; at last; after a long time


However – but; used when connecting two contrasting sentences
Otherwise – to indicate that if something doesn’t happen, there may be a different
situation
Then – at that time; in that case; used to indicate what will or should happen next
Therefore – because of that
Examples:

1. I waited all week for this moment; finally, it’s here.


2. I saved money all year; finally, I can buy a car.
3. The toy store had many stuffed animals; however, it did not have the one my
daughter wanted.
4. There are many history books; however, none of them may be accurate.
5. We have to advertise our store; otherwise, some people may not know we’re
open now.
6. The law does not permit drinking and driving anytime; otherwise, there would
be many more accidents.
7. I was having a good time; then, it was time to leave.
8. The baby fell asleep; then, the doorbell rang.
9. I didn’t study for the test; therefore, I failed it.
10. The due date for the final paper had passed; therefore, I could not submit
mine on time.

D. Generalization
The class will be grouped into three, the teacher will play a lively music while the
first group is passing a bowl with questions that need to be answered. The one
holding the bowl when the music stops will answer.

E. Application
The class will be grouped into three and will be given situations where in they
have to do a role playing and used conjunctive adverbs in their dialogue.

Situations:
1. You have a plan to go to the beach with your friends. You heard the weather
report that there will be a typhoon.
2. You and your friends are looking for a good restaurant to have lunch and talk.
3. You are trying to explain yourself to your mum because she got mad when
you arrived home late.
