MANIFESTO

I, Anirudh Mittal (170020057), if elected as General Secretary of Technical Affairs (GSTA),

will strive to develop communities around hobby clubs, make the Tinkerers’ Lab a centre for
innovation and promote projects having a strong impact on the student community.
I propose to do the following.

TINKERERS’ LABORATORY
• Promote further digitalization of TL:
❖ Entry System: Installation of a biometric system to track the usage of the lab; to provide
insights to administration by analyzing the collected data
❖ Issuing System: Issuing TL equipment without submission of ID cards using roll no.
❖ Inventory Management: Tagging equipment using bar codes / RFID tags and
maintaining a concise database that will be available online
• Revamp the look and feel of the second phase of TL and establishing a ‘Thinking Corner’ with
coffee machine, bean bags and whiteboards, making it more hospitable for users
• Incentivize students who complete training sessions by providing restricted access to machines

TECHNICAL PROJECTS
• Sophie Startup: Restructuring Technovation by specifically targeting sophomores to promote
technopreneurship with a timeline similar to ITSP in collaboration with the entrepreneurship cell
• Collaborate with the BETiC Lab for projects during ITSP and semester-long projects
• Float industry projects among students with the help of alumni startups and IITB Research
Park, especially during the winter break, providing hands-on experience on real-life projects
• Maintain an online tagged repository with ITSP, SoC and SoS documentations across years
• Prepare an exhaustive database of technical facilities available in the institute and make these
facilities available for students at subsidized prices or free of cost
• Consolidating a database of vendors in and around the city for facilities like PCB printing, etc.
• Organizing field visits to manufacturing centers to expose students to large scale production

TECH TEAMS
• Provide funding opportunities for tech teams from companies hosted in the IITB Research Park
• Tech team workshops: Conduct workshops to publicize area of expertise of teams, which
further may be leveraged for their recruitment process
• Developing websites for new tech teams and updating existing websites of old tech teams by
providing standard templates with the help of the web nominee

INSTITUTE DEVELOPERS’ COMMUNITY

• InstiApp: Add features like course scheduler and cab sharing to InstiApp along with DevCom
• Coordinate with academic and hostel affairs council to facilitate the working of DevCom on
projects like CourseRank, resume verification portal, canteen remote payment, etc.
• Initiate hardware projects that can be deployed in the institute like vacancy counter, etc.
TECHNICAL CLUBS
• Initiate a centralized book lending system for books from all technical clubs
• Chemistry Club: Maintain an inventory and set up a managerial council for the club
• Involve hostel tech secretaries in convener training spread across multiple technical clubs
• Coordinate with other IITs to host pan-IIT competitions for competitive coding & cyber security

INTER IIT TECH MEET

• Tech Schools: Expanding the Inter IIT boot camps to span a longer duration and covering in-
depth knowledge of recurrent problem statements, aiding the process of contingent selection
• Pseudo Inter IIT Team: Formation of a team comprising previous meets’ participants,
contingent leaders and various seniors for planning and contingent selection for the meet
• But what exactly happens in Inter IIT Tech Meet?: Make short videos for problem statements

PG TECH
• PG Tech Orientation: Conducting an orientation briefing students about tech events and
facilities available for PG students, especially resources available in the Tinkerers’ Laboratory
• PG Tech weekend: Conducting events comprising six-hour hackathons, lab visits and fun events
• Collaborate with PG academic council to conduct workshops on technical software and skills
• Revive the tradition of including PG students in the council to increase reach in the community

TECH GCs AND HOSTEL TECH CULTURE

• Expanding the documentation GC by evaluating tech rooms at regular intervals and
incentivizing user-friendliness and issuing process to promote usage
• Hostel Tech Expo: Presenting technical projects made by residents during hostel fests
• Conduct weekly movie and documentary screenings & ensure availability of science and
technology magazines, journals and comics in hostel common rooms

PUBLICITY AND OUTREACH

• One minute series: Creating short and engaging videos with the media team to promote tech
team recruitment, flagship events & Inter-IIT Tech Meet on various social platforms
• Coordinate with IIT-BBC for the coverage of major events and competitions around the year
• Reddit: Leveraging the IIT Bombay thread to provide a platform for tech-related doubt solving
• Publicize ‘Made In TL’ brand in the institute through social media and other platforms

MISCELLANEOUS
• ITSP reimbursement: Creating a portal to make the process transparent for participants
• Tech Vouchers: Promote purchasing of tech equipment as prizes for competitions
• Follow up on converting the STAB Room into a meeting, discussion and storage space
• Institute Technical Mentorship Program: Allot mentors to freshmen to create awareness
