Monday  Follow Cadastre team to perform strata survey at Mont Kiara
Banyan

2. Job overview
 To check whether asbuilt building is built according to
architect specifications

3. Procedure
 Identify areas that are needed to perform strata survey
 Using a distometer, collect the necessary distance data
 Record the data and compare the data with the provisional
strata plan
 The available tolerance is up to 0.1m, if the measured data is
more than 0.1m from the data on the provisional strata plan,
re-measure the length of the building again. If the same
issue occurs, then 2 possibilities might come into play:
 The length of the building on the provisional strata plan
was texted incorrectly
 The building was not built according to the dimensions
set by the architect plan
 Record and highlight any building length that exceeds the
available tolerance
 Ensure that all the necessary building entities are measured,
including
 Building perimeter
 Center of party wall (excluding mosaic)
 Staircase dimensions
 Floor levels
 Record all data in a neat and organized manner

Tuesday  Follow Cadastre team to LEKAS highway, Nilai to perform demarcation
survey

2. Job overview
 Land acquisition hs been performed prior to the construction of LEKAS
highway from Kajang to Seremban
 With the highway now completed, it is necessary to properly
demarcate boundaries of lots on which the highway passed through
 The final output from this survey is the Certified Plans/Pelan Akui
(CP/PA) which will then be used to signify the new lot boundary

3. Procedure
 Perform control traverse around the lot that is required to perform
demarcation and
 Ensure that the accuracy of the control traverse is first-class (1:8000)
 Along the traverse, pick-up any old boundary marks along the way and
record in the field book
 Perform solar observation and ensure that the bearig obtained is first-
class (difference between 1st and 2nd observation is within 10”)
 Perform C- and M- corrections to obtain corrected traverse bearing
based on azimuth
 Compute boundary marks bearing distance based on:
 Observed bearing distance based on traverse
 Computed bearing distance based on old CP of the lot
 The allowable misclose of bearing is within 30”, while the allowable
misclose of distance is within 0.0003m per 20m between the boundary
marks
 From there, determine the suitable “base” on which scaling
computations are based upon. The base is any 2 boundary marks that
fulfill the criteria of the allowable misclosure of the breaing and
distance
 Scale the old bearing and distance of the base to the new observed
bearing distance of the base for all old boundary bearing and distances
of the lot
 For bearing, simply add/minus the difference in bearing of the base
 For distance, the formula is given as

 Once all the lot bearing and distances has been scaled up to the new
bearing distance, compute the direct line between the nearest survey
stations to the boundary mark
 Using the computed data, set up the total station on the field and
target the bearing distance of the boundary mark based on the
computed data
 Use a tripod with the prism attached to correctly identify the spot to
plant the boundary mark, then excavate the area with a shovel
 The dimensions of the boundary mark must be as shown:

 Ensure that the planted boundary mark is almost fully submerged in

the ground, with only ~2 cm of the top of the boundary mark visible
 After the boundary mark has been planted, re-observation must be
done to ensure that the boundary mark is perfectly in place
 Survey and plant the remainder of the boundary marks for the lot

 2 boundary marks planted before halting work due to rain.

that the tripod is able to sit on top of the boundary mark area

Wednesday  Performed EDM test at Shah Alam EDM test pillar site

2. Job overview
 EDM testing of the total station must be done once every 6
months
 This is done at EDM test pillars
 The observed distance results are compared with the known
distance results and the differences summed and averaged.
 The allowable tolerance is <0.01m

3. Procedure
 There’s a total of 10 pillars at the EDM test site.
 Set-up total station at pillar 1, while prism is set up at pillar 2
 Measure the distance
 Continue measuring from pillar 1 to pillar 3 up to pillar 10
 When prism is at pillar 10, move total station to pillar 2, and
repeat observation from pillar 2 to 10 up to pillar 2 to 3
 Compute the differences and average the sum of differences
to obtain the results
 If the results is >0.01m, it means that the EDM is possibly
faulty, and must be sent for recalibration

4. Results
 Computed result is 0.004m, which is acceptable.
