Dear customer,
We would like to provide you with the following answer regarding your question below:
QUESTION
To our knowledge, the DUAL COOLING Pb is being pressed immediately (without any time delay with the
amber crosses on engine parameters being displayed) after selection of the MODE SEL to IGN/START as
per the laid down FCOM procedure.
We understand that the DUAL COOLING function is being attempted while keeping the aircraft operation
within the dual cooling envelope( FCOM\DSC-70-80-40)
In order to avoid this ECAM, could you please clarify if the DUAL COOLING Pb has to be pressed after
the amber crosses on the engine parameters have disappeared.
ANSWER
In order to achieve the Dual cooling function, please make sure that COOLING indication (see DSC-70-
90-40-50) is displayed on both engines after the ENG MODE selector has been switched on IGN/START.

Then you can press the DUAL COOLING pb in order to arm the dual cooling function.
The Dual cooling function is, per design, NOT AVAIL, under some specific conditions:
- If the parameters are outside of the Dual Cooling ground start envelope
- During dual cooling sequence if there is not enough air pressure or the N2 does not increase fast enough
(Low start air press included), the logic automatically switches to the single cooling mode
Please note that if the cooling time computed by the EEC is shorter than 20 sec, the cooling time is not
displayed and Dual cooling is not necessary.
We hope these information can guide you to understand why the ENG DUAL COOLING NOT AVAIL
message was displayed in your cases. In case you experience further issues with this function, please
note that MSN6860 and MSN6904 in your fleet are equipped with Customer Support Troubleshooting
Tools (CSTT). If the issue is experienced on those MSNs, do not hesitate to communicate us the date and
the MSN so we can investigate further.
We hope this satisfactorily responds to your request. We encourage you to provide us with your feedback,
and we remain available for any additional information and assistance.
Best regards,
Nicolas GERARD
