THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST VACCINATION

Disease will be a major political battleground in the coming decades
Adapted from The Economist, Jan 19th, 2019

Question 1: According to the article, what are the common

arguments of the “anti-vax”?

These people believe that vaccine are bad health, as example, Ms Arduini heard such intox
as “vaccinations could cause autism” so it’s bad for children. Their common argument is
the fear of something that isn’t even real, a link between autism and vaccines.

Question 2: In your opinion, to what extent is the health

of citizens linked to political decisions ?

The health of citizens is linked to political decisions in a close way because citizens are the
people. Indeed, if the people is sick that will lead to extreme consequences on the long
term. The best relevant example is the one of the worldwide crisis C
 ovid-19 . At first politics
didn’t take that biological threat as serious when it was outside European frontiers. The
previous Health minister Agnès Buzyn warned the Government before the situation wasn’t
out of control yet but it was starting to warn the attention of medical sphere. In vain, it
didn’t’ turn well and she had to quit her functions last February. So this pertinent
consequence underline how health of citizens is a matter on political discussions. Other
example that can illustrate this can be H1N1or Ebola virus
