The verb to be: The verb to be is the most important verb in the English language. it is
an irregular verb in almost all of its forms. In the simple present tense, to be is conjugated as

Demonstrative Adjectives
We use demonstrative adjectives to point out specific people or
things.
This and that These and Those
This and that modify singular nouns. These and those are used for plural nouns.
This is used to point out something that These is similar to this, but it is used for
is nearby: nearby plurals:
"This book I'm holding is very old." "These keys are all the wrong size for this
door."
That is used to point out something that is

Emergency Cars
An emergency vehicle is any vehicle that is designated and
authorized to respond to an emergency.
They are usually operated by designated agencies by the government,
charities, non-governmental organizations and some commercial companies.
Often emergency vehicles are permitted by law to break conventional road
rules in order to reach their destinations in the fastest possible time, such as:
 Driving through an intersection when the traffic light is red.
 Exceeding the speed limit.

CARS
Read the text about the emergency cars. You can use a
dictionary. Write at least 5 characteristics of each emergency
vehicle

Police Car

A police car is a ground vehicle used by police for transportation during


patrols and to enable them to respond to incidents.

The uses of a police car are:

 Transporting officers so they can reach the scene of an incident quickly.


 Transporting and temporarily detaining suspects in the back seats.
 Police cars typically have rooftop flashing lights.
 A siren
 Emblems or markings indicating that the vehicle is a police car.
 Some police cars may have reinforced bumpers and alley lights,
for illuminating darkened allies.
FireTruck

A quint truck does the work of both a pumper truck and a ladder truck. The
word "quint" means "five", and this truck has a water tank, pump hose, ground
ladders, and an aerial ladder.

All firefighters must always be sitting down and wearing a safety belt when the fire
truck is moving.

The ground ladders help firefighters climb from the ground to a porch or
window.

Hoses are used to put water on the


fire.

The Pump Panel is where you find the valves and gauges for the pump.
From here a firefighter can control the water coming from the tank or hydrant,
through the pump, and then to the hoses that the other firefighters are using to
put out the fire.

Storage Compartments .Firefighters use storage compartments to store


equipment and tools.

Lights. Flashing lights let people know to make way for the fire
trucks.

Aerial Ladder. It is a metal ladder that can extend up in the air about 100 feet
like a telescope.

Ambulance Car

An ambulance is a vehicle specifically designed to transport critically sick or


injured people to a medical facility. Most ambulances are motor vehicles,
although helicopters, airplanes, and boats are also used. The interior of an
ambulance has room for one or more patients plus several emergency medical
personnel. It also contains a variety of supplies and equipment that are used to
stabilize the patient's condition while in route.

Ambulances may be fitted with a range of additional equipment which is used


in order to facilitate patient care. This could include:

Two-way radio can allow the crew to pass information back to control or
to the hospital.

Evidence gathering CCTV – Some ambulances are now being fitted with
video cameras used to record activity either inside or outside the vehicle.

Tail lift or ramp

Trauma lighting . In addition to normal working lighting, ambulances can


be fitted with special lighting (often blue or red) which is used when the
patient becomes photosensitive.

Armored car

The armored car is mostly utilized by the military, but many companies have
created armored cars for civilian use, usually to protect valuables and
dignitaries. The armored car is completely bullet proof and can withstand
extreme degrees of heat.
