1. What is the importance of history?

From the Latin word ‘historia’ which means inquiry and information. History is important
because it is the living record of everything that happened in the past which is recorded and transcribed
in documents, artworks, music and photographs. It is essential for us to study history in the sense that
even though a lot of people don't want to talk about the past, it actually makes them who they are.
History makes us understand the current world we’re living in. It explains why society nowadays is like
this and it gives us more understanding of what the future may have in store for us here on Earth. So for
me, history is the background of today and the foundation of the future.

2. What is historiography?

Historiography is the study of how our history was written. It discovers a lot of aspects such as
the process, method, intention, ideology, who wrote it and why a historical event happened was
recorded. It helps us understand why such memorable events have been interpreted differently over
time. Overall, historiography helps us understand the factual history behind a historical myth because it
gives another perspective and interpretation of the said events.

3. When writing a history, would you be subjective or objective?

In writing a history, it is most subjective and kind of objective at the same time. Subjective in the
sense that you are involved in the event, you are most likely to base and rely on your experiences and
observations firsthand. In contrast, it is objective by the facts you had stated or given. But if I am writing
a historical narrative, I would probably be subjective in terms of stating the happenings I personally
encountered. I might be biased in my stand, opinions and statements. Nonetheless, the objective thing
about history is that it happened.
