Based on the assignment question given, in January 2017, Angelina’s brother, Mark and

friend of Angelina, Hans is making an offer to Angelina at the same time. Angelina accepted the
offer. In this situation, agreement is formed between offerors who are Mark and Hans, and the
offeree, Angelina. All of the parties have provided consideration by conducting an action. Mark
and Hans have provided executory consideration which is also known as future consideration by
paying for a fee once Angelina has done the work for them. Angelina also has provided a past
consideration as she has completed the work asked by her brother and friend. Therefore, a contract
is formed between them. In June 2017, Angelina, the offeror who wants Laura to take care of her
house when she is on a trip for a conference in London. Laura, the offeree who accepted the offer
from Angelina to take care her house. Angelina promised to pay Laura RM100 for the work when
she back from London. However, Laura offered a RM80 value shopping voucher to Laura which
tend to be settled the full payment of RM100 of the first promise. Laura accepted. After that, Laura
wants to reclaim the remaining RM20 as she realised that Angelina has a well-paid job.

This essay will be divided into 2 parts. In first part, the essay will provide an in-depth
understanding of intention to create legal relations under Contracts Act 1950 and English common
law. In second part, the essay will examine the application of part payment of a debt under English
common law to the question given.
