pattern block mats

SKILL-

Shape recognition, number recognition, counting and addition.

PREP-

Print one roll and cover sheet for each child. If you’ll be using the activity in a classroom,
you may also want to laminate it for easy reuse.

Note: There are two versions of each mat: one roll and cover page that practices
counting and recognizing the numbers 1 to 6 AND one roll, add and cover sheet that works
on adding together two numbers up to 12.

Grab a set of pattern blocks and dice for each child.

PLAY-

To play the roll and cover game, children roll one die, count the dots that land on top and
cover a matching number with a pattern block. Play continues until all shapes have been
covered.

To play the roll, add and cover game, children roll two dice, add together the numbers that
land on top and cover a matching sum with a pattern block. Play continues until all shapes
have been covered.
