Epilepsy is a disorder from Central Nervous System.

Sad to say that epilepsy is one of the most

common neurological disorder which affects people of all ages. Yes, it is true that there is a possibility
where anyone could suffer to this kind of disease.Epilepsy might also cause any health problems since it
is characterized by unpredictable seizures. Millions of people suffer from this kind of disorder around
the world. According to my research, in United States there are atleast 3.4 million who have epilepsy.
Thousands of childrens in that country have that disease. If we can still remember, since we all know
when we were in highschool that human brain has a big responsibility when it comes to functions.
Human brain is also the source of human epilepsy. The cause of epilepsy is still completely unknown and
the seizures of epilepsy may be related to the brain injury of a person or a family tendency.

I just want to share something about my neighbor who have an epilepsy disorder. His name is
John Vinluan and he is now 26years old. Before, he always experience this kind of disease that is why he
did not continue his studies.Actually, he always takes his medicine to ease the pain. When he was attack
by his disorder, he's always fells down on the floor and his eyes looks so scary while all his body is
shaking. His parents used spoo and tjen put it into her mouth so that he cannot bite his tongue. He
always now takes his medicines proper and regularly. As a result, he is not frequently experiencing this
kind of disorder. We must be aware that epilepsy can affect one's safety, relationships, works and so
much more.People's understanding and treatments are those things which needed by the one who
suffers from it.

Types: Focal Seizures and Generalized Seizures

Since epilepsy causes seizures that can affect behavior which is according to my research, there were
about a dozen types of epilepsy and there are two main types of seizures.First is the Focal seizures starts
in a particular part of your brain, and their names are based on the part where they happen. They can
cause both physical and emotional effects and make you feel, see, or hear things that aren’t
there.Sometimes, the symptoms of a focal seizure can be mistaken for signs of mental illness or another
kind of nerve disorder.Generalized seizures is the second mai n type. These happen when nerve cells on
both sides of your brain misfire. They can make you have muscle spasms, black out, or fall.

Signs and Symptoms:

Since that epilepsy is caused by normal activity of a human brain, the seizures can affect any process
which your brain coordinates.

Some signs and symptoms may includes:

1.Temporary Confusion - in my own opinion, this symptoms of epilepsy means that you will have a lack
of understanding.Things will be unclear to the one who suffers from it.

2.A staring spell -in my own opinion, in this symptoms a person who attacks by epilepsy makes his or her
eyes looks scary. It seems like there is a bad spirit which overlapped to his or her body.

3.Uncontrollably Jerking Movements of the Arms and Legs - in my own opinion, this means that you
cannot control your arms and legs even if you did not really intend to move it.

4.Psychic symptoms - fear, anxiety and dija vu are those examples of this kind of symptoms and that was
according to my research.
The symptoms changes depends on the type of seizure. The truth is, the Doctors could classify seizures
on the two main types of seizures which are focal generalized. It is based on how the abnormal brain
activity begin.

Causes:

Like I said earlier, epilepsy has no clear cause but this condition have different factors.

1.Genetic Influence - It is possible that there is a genetic influence on this case because the part of the
brain which damaged or any of those two type of seizure that a person experienced in this disorder
were transmitted through families.

2.Head Trauma - For example is when you drive a car at it accidentally crash and your brain got affected,
then it is possible that it can cause epilepsy.

3.Brain Conditions - Adult people who experienced stroke may cause epilepsy.

4.Infectious Diseases - AIDS and other diseases which are very infectious may cause epilepsy.

5.Prenatal Injury - Pregnant woman needs to eat nutritious food because before birth of the baby they
are very sensitive specially for the brain damage that may cause epilepsy.

Effects:

Brief side effects may include:

1.Constant fear of when the next seizure will happen because they can come without any warning.

2. You can also feel tired in taking all of your medicines.

3.You will be frustrate because you can no longer be independent anymore. You can't work properly if
the symptoms are active. But you can still love a person who can understand, respect, guide and will
love you forever

Risk Factors and Prevention:

There were real factors whichay increase or outgrow the risk of epilepsy disorder.

1.Head Injuries - Just be careful in driving Make sure to wear helmet and belt to reduce risks.

2.Stroke and other Vascular Diseases - To reduce the risk, you need proper diet and exercise, avoid
cigarettes and limit alcohol because stroke may lead to brain damage which may cause epilepsy.

3.Age - Epilepsy can occur at any age, usually for children and older adults.

4.Family History - Sometimes if a person has a family history on epilepsy disorder, there is a possibility
an increase risk of disorder.

5. Dementia - Old adults with dementia have a disease of the brain which there is no cure for it.

Treatment:

To stop on having seizures there are treatment which may help people with epilepsy.
1.Meficined called anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) It is the most commonly used treatment for epilepsy
because it controls seizures.

2.Surgery to remove a small part of the brain which causes seizures.

3.There is also electrical device which may support inside the body to control seizures of a person.

4. A special diet or ketogenic diet in controlling seizures.

People with disorder needs treatment forever but if its disappear, you might be able to stop it.

We always remember that epilepsy is not a choice but it is an acceptance.
