Conduct a strength, weaknesses, opportunities, threats model (SWOT) analysis

for Netflix

The threats model that Netflix has as a strength as opportunities are, that Netflix has
a lot of agreements with a lot of companies such The Walt Disney Company, to
have their licenses and rights to have their exclusive content that only can be find on
Netflix, this and other companies have been doing business dealings with Netflix, so
them have a diversify content in their platform, and that can be attach with the fact
that them have been doing their own exclusive shows and movies partnering with
different Hollywood producers like Andy Wachowski and Judd Aptow, expanding
their content on their benefits, also the fact that they are internationalizing in more
countries breaking their borders, some of their weakness are that in the fact that they
want to internationalizing and have a lot of issues like the regulatory restrictions,
because every country laws are different and they have to abide them, also the video
file sharing website are a big problem for them because those websites allow to the
people to watch free content like movies and shows although in a bad quality those
websites are like Pirate Bay and Megaupload, and Netflix can’t do too much to
eradicate this types of websites, on the other hand the access of internet is one of the
biggest problem in the company and make the company in a big disadvantage and
weakness because not too much countries have the same access to intent like the
united states that have internet access in almost all their country and that makes a
really disadvantage in the three world countries, losing a lot viewers around the
globe.

2. Define Netflix competitive advantage. Why is Netflix so successful?

Netflix it’s so successful because they in the beginning used the internet as their
weapon, they resolved a problem that were in the community, growing and
attaching the market to a new hole level, just innovating with the pay per rental
DVD mailing service, taking away for his clients the fact that they have to go to
claim a movie, and in a year (between 1998 and 1999) having the people more
internet access the advantage to have an internet subscription in their platform
where they don’t even have to leave the house to watch a movie, and in a very good
price to watch a thousands of movies monthly. Now after more than 10 years that
Netflix was founded their new more competitive advantage is that they have a
backup to attract the people to their platform, and that is when in 2013 they brought
out to the people the new exclusive content on Netflix House of Cards, and that
show was the begging of their new strategy because that show was not just a
success for the people, was the begging of a new realization of exclusive series on
Netflix that give a lot to talk about, and with that hit, Netflix confirmed that their
strategy was going to be successful so far, and they started to do business with
Hollywood producers and partnerships with Hollywood studios giving them a lot of
advantage in front of their rivals.
3. How would you recommend Netflix overcome its challenges in the
international market?

I would recommend to Netflix to abide the laws of each country to expand their
company to a new frontier although they have a lot of restrictions in different
countries that they want to expand, the best option may be possibly to trying to enter
to the country and slowly they can grow in, with a small amount of movies that the
laws accept, and then they can enlarge their content, because if they want to have a
bunch of movies, possibly the laws and the government I those country may not
accept because is different as their laws as their cultures comparing united states
that is mostly a free in a lot aspect when in others countries aren’t.

4. Moving forwards, what future strategic initiatives might Hastings consider?

The future strategic initiatives might Hastings consider are that they can associate
with more local content in the countries that they want to expand, and the countries
that they are already in, because if they associate with them, they are basically
“joining to the enemy” reducing the fact that the other programs, TV shows, movies
that are transmitted in the other channels and companies similar to Netflix might be
a problem taking away audiences, and their profits and viewers be able to grow
benefiting the Company, also they have to keep doing partnerships with a lot of
producers an director to make sure that their original content will be success, and
not just for the original contents they can do partnership with other streaming
partnership to minimizing their rivals.
