Psychological Dependence - It is refers to a state in which individual has a compulsion to

take a drug, but one in which there may not be a physical dependence.

Drug Habituation - It is a condition resulting from the repeated consumption of a drug.

Characteristics of Drug Habituation

1. A desire but not compulsive to continue taking the drug for the sense of
improved well being it engenders.
2. Little or no tendency to increase dose.
3. Some degree of psychic dependence on the effect of drug but absence of
physical dependence and hence of abstinence syndrome.
