▪ About Textures: All textures and patterns are handmade by our team of artists led by
Sculptor Louis Beltran. This makes every piece unique revealing the beauty of the human
touch in truly one-of-a-kind pieces, colors and textures variations occur.

▪ About Patinas: The nature of metals is to age over time. All artistic patinas are living
finishes, they are hand-applied combining art, craftsmanship, and science. The rate of
change over time in the patinas depends on several variables such as weather, exposure
to rain, sun, and other environmental conditions.

▪ About Maintenance: To preserve a finish close to the original patina, maintenance is

essential. If hand-applied patinas are not well maintained, eventually the organic nature
of the material will run its course and take over the process.

▪ About Finishes: Each material creates different colors, tones and hues, these may vary as
they are applied in different surfaces, material gauges, weather conditions at the time of
application

▪ About Hues: Darker patinas help hide inherent defects in the metal substrate, contrary to
light ones that expose material natural defects

Copper alloy with addition of zinc, tin, aluminum, phosphorus + other Metals.

Bronze is a metal alloy, known since prehistoric times, in fact, is called bronze to any alloy
where copper.
Brass or architectural bronze is an alloy introduced to the bulding industry in the aerly XX
century and comonly used for extrusions in today's market there are several alloys for diferent
aplications but the 2 with the widest variety of profiles and gauges are still the ones in bornze &

BRONZE & BRASS

Silicon bronze, called red silicon bronze, contains copper, silicon and zinc.
It usually contains up to 6% silicon. It is a high-strength alloy, with an easy
pouring ability, high corrosion resistance, and appealing surface finish. It is
most commonly used for pump and valve parts.

Phosphor bronze, also known as tin bronze, contains copper, up to 11%

tin, and up to 0.35% phosphorus. has good wear resistance and stiffness.
This alloy is known for being tough and durable,It is commonly used to
make anti-corrosive equipment, electrical components, washers, springs,
bellows, and musical instruments.

Aluminum bronze contains copper, around 6 to 12% aluminum, and

sometimes other additions such as iron, nickel, manganese, and silicon. It is
a high strength, corrosion-resistant, and tarnish-resistant alloy. Because of
its corrosion-resistance, particularly to seawater, common applications are
marine hardware, and pumps that carry corrosive fluids. It is als.
BRONZE & BRASS

Manganese bronze is made of up to 3% manganese, copper, zinc,

aluminum, and iron. It is shock-resistant and deforms instead of
breaking. It is highly resistant to saltwater corrosion and is therefore often
used in boat propellers. Manganese bronze is also used for valve and
pump parts, gears, nuts, and bolts.

Bearing bronze has a lead content of about 6 to 8%. The higher lead
content gives it a low-friction property, As its name suggests, bearing
bronze is most often used to make bearings and bushings.

Copper-nickel bronze, also known as Marine Bronze contains a larger

amount of nickel, from 2 to 30%. Like the other types of bronze alloys, it
is durable and corrosive-resistant, especially against saltwater. It is used
for electronic components, marine equipment, ship hulls, very restricted
in profiles and gauges or sheet metal
BRONZE & BRASS

Bismuth bronze has 1 to 6% bismuth. It is very corrosion-resistant and

more malleable and thermally conductive. It polishes well, and so is
sometimes used in light reflectors and mirrors. The most common
industrial application is bearings. however, it has been used as
kitchenware.
BRONZE & BRASS Processes

Heating the material to make Are processes that require

FORGING it softer and be able to shape MACHINE special tools, to shange the
it to one needs hancrafting shape
· Lathing
· Milling
· Rolling
· Cutting
This process is similar to the
REPOUSSE forging process, its main diffe-
rence lies in the shape of the
basic material used, since it is
composed of "light" materials,
usually sheet.
BRONZE & BRASS Processes

Generalities

is a handcrafted process using ancien techniquesin house bringing the

FOUNDRY metals to the melting point and poured in ceramique , sand or lost wax
mouldings

This hand process is generally applied as a finish, this to give a rustic look
HAMMERED to the material.

This hand process is performed in sheets of "low" gauges, between 1 and 1.2
“RECHAZADO” mm; It is generally used to give a concave or convex shape to the sheet.

This process of ribeting welding or machanical assembly applies to bronze

STRUCTURAL when particular strenght is required to resist to mechanical stresses, torsion,
compression, tension, among others.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
BRONZE & BRASS INTERIOR & EXTERIOR
Regular procedure:
• All elements should be kept clean free of deposits of dirt or dust.
• Avoid during regular use touching the metal with hand or fingers this will minimize the
oxidation process or building of spots in the surfaces

• Avoid scratching with sharp elements or metals of any kind

Scratches in polished bronze are very difficult to erase and may require a professional
repair or a long time consuming restoration

Cleaning should be performed regularily with a dry clean soft cloth and the
SOLARINE, VIP Polish
• For high traffic areas we recommend daily cleaning
• For low traffic areas we recommend cleaning every 3-5 days.
Shine restoration: one can find in the market several products to shine/polish bronze

B–PATINA FINISHES
• Patina is an accelerated chemical and physical procedure performed to
simulate the natural aging process of the metal; using several acid mixtures
and extreme heat to obtain different colors or textures.

• The antiqued bronze exposed to a controlled interior climate or under air-

conditioned is a very low maintenace material

• Care and maintenance for exterior exposure depends on the condition of the
particular location and may have to be adjusted shorten the time between
processes based on experience.

• In order to keep selected colors at the end of the patina process it is

imperative to seal the surfaces with wax or clear coats of paint, in most cases
wax is the recommended seal that allows better maintenanceand & repairs.

INTERIOR EXPOSURE
The forged BRONZE exposed to a controlled interior spaces or under air conditioned is a very low
maintenace material
The following is the procedure to maintain elements in forged or casted bronze exposed to interior spaces.
Regular procedures
1. All elements should be kept clean free of deposits of dirt or dust.
2. Avoid touching the metal with hand or fingers this may accelerate the oxidation process
3. Avoid scratching with sharp elements or metals of any kind.
4. Scratches on antique bronze are very difficult remove and may require a professional repair or the total
refinish of the product.
5. Avoid cleaning or wiping with acids soaps or liquids or any kind
6. To restore the luster or shine surfaces wipe with soft humid cloth using only natural wax or oil when
required in small quantities wiping with a avoid excess that may hold deposits of dirt or dust.
7. Wax protection last within 3 to 6 monthsr the reapplication or maintenance may have to be
adjusted depending on the particular conditions of location or direct contact with users.
8. The changing of the appearance of the color shine will direct the timing between maintenances

OUTDOOR EXPOSURE
Bronze is not a maintenance free material; The following is the procedure to maintain elements
in extruded, forged or casted bronze exposed to weather.
Regular procedures
1. All elements should be kept clean free of deposits of water, dirt or dust.
2. Avoid touching the metal with hand or fingers this may accelerate the oxidation process
3. Avoid scratching with sharp elements or metals of any kind.
4. Scratches on antique or patina bronze are very difficult remove and may require a
professional repair for partial or total refinish of the product.
5. Avoid cleaning or wiping with acids soaps or liquids or any kind
6. To restore the luster or shine surfaces wipe with soft humid cloth using only natural wax or oil
when required in small quantities wiping with a avoid excess that may hold deposits of dirt or
dust.
7. In order to keep patina colors & tones all surfaces come sealed with wax or clear coats of paint,
in most cases wax is the recommended seal that allows maintenance and repairs.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
BRONZE & BRASS EXTERIOR
8. Wax protection last within 2 weeks to 3 months when exposed to weather; the reapplication
or maintenance may have to be adjusted shorten the time between processes based on
experience and salted enviroments 9. If the sealer maintenance is not followed regularly the
aging-oxidation process will continue adding extra layers of new tones of natural patina colors
changing or tarnishing naturally over time
10. If the product was protected with lacquer by BELT follow steps 1 to 5 color or shine may
change after years of exposure to weather and re-painting with lacquer may be required
depending on the particular location of the pieces
11. Natural wax may be applied in interstices areas where small spots or traces of rust may
show depending on the color of the colored patina wax or oil may be applied
12. Exterme weather conditions or salty & humid enviroments, are very demanding to keep
the color & shin of natural patinas, it is highly recomended to schedule a very strict protocol,
cleanning and wxaing or oiling protection, in extreme cases with pieces that are not on everyday
contact with hands using WD40 on a damp cloth is highly recomended.
12. Sea fronts exposed to "Salt blasting", we highly recomend to leave the bronze wiht no
maintenaceand the metal will get the natural patinas or select the darkert colors to reduce the
spacing betweenmaintenaces, protection with lacquers shall be avoided in these expossures
