Inputs for work plan signed between India and Lithuania for
cooperation in the field of Agriculture & allied sectors for
2019-2022
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and
Lithuania seeks for cooperation in agricultural and allied activities including animal husbandry and food processing. Further, it states that the joint activities and exchange program among other listed activities shall also include activities leading to diversification of economic activities in rural areas and reducing disparities between urban and rural areas. Accordingly, following thematic areas of cooperation related to dairying may be considered: Animal Health
Presently, issues like emergence or reemergence of livestock
diseases under the impact of climate change and their control strategies could be duly considered under agriculture risk management and be given a special mention for bilateral cooperation.
The issue of increasing Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) and to
find a combating pathway is the serious global challenge. A collaborative approach may be explored for the possibility of reducing global AMR issues and suggest an ecofriendly alternative approach.
Future scope for discussion on issues like development of vaccine
biology for vectored pathogens, sharing of technical knowledge and skill in the field of advance disease research and diagnosis including high end disease surveillance and control mechanism for trans-border diseases etc. may be explored for mutual benefit between both the countries.
R&D studies on emerging diseases of ‘One Health’ significance as
part of capacity building for both the nations.
