HRM Principle

Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited (BSRM) is the leading steel manufacturing company
in Bangladesh. It is also the largest construction steel manufacturing company in Bangladesh.
With a workforce of 2800 people consisting highly skilled professionals, technicians and
workers. Among the 2800, the number of employees in corporate division is 807. BSRM is one
of the most accomplished company in Bangladesh. BSRM manages its huge workforce through
well versed HRM principles of their own. The HRM principles of BSRM is given below:

1. Deal with in house and external people related to the operation: In order to keep their
operation department run smoothly the first priority of BSRM is that they deal with the in
house and the external people directly involve with the operation department by giving
the outmost importance.
2. Boost peoples mind towards achieving goals: In order to achieve their organizational
goals BSRM puts a huge amount of emphasis on motivating and boosting the morale and
the confidence of their employees.
3. Treat all employees with justice: BSRM does not appreciate any kind of discrimination
among their employees rather they ensure that all their employees should be treated with
equal justice.
4. Provision of Reward and Recognition: BSRM recognizes the hard work and dedication
of their employees. BSRM has a provision of Rewards and Recognition for their
employees on a yearly basis. Through the provision of reward and recognition BSRM
wants to increase dedication and loyalty of the employees.
5. Supply employees with relevant information: BSRM always provides relevant
information to its employees rather than hiding the information from them. BSRM

and their employees. BSRM believes in their HR program and one of their main

Performance Evaluation
BSRM is the leading steel manufacturing company if Bangladesh with 807 working skilled
professionals in their corporate division. BSRM is one of the leading & successful company in
Bangladesh. The main reason behind the success of BSRM is the correct evaluation of the
performance of the employees. BSRM has a unique way of evaluating the performance of their
employees. BSRM uses the Key Performance (KPI) for evaluating the employees. Each of the
employees has their own KPIs. BSRM sets the KPI for a whole for every working employees.
Based on the annual performance of every employees the individual KPI are formed.
The key performance indicator (KPI) are formed by considering some points which helps the
KPI to fit into the organizational structure. The points are discussed below:
1. Identifying the organizational goals: BSRM identifies the organizational goal in order
make the KPI relevant and easy to fit with the organizational structure which it easy to
measure.
2. Setting Organizational Vision: In order to develop the KPI, BSRM sets a organizational
for the employees which helps them to monitor the employee activities towards achieving
that vision.
3. Considering Group Target: BSRM often form their KPIs by considering the group
target in order measure the performance rate of employees and it also helps the
organization to measure the performances of employees with each other.
4. Set core activities of Departments & individuals: BSRM sets the core activities of their
different departments and the individuals working in those departments. It helps them to
measure the performance of each department remotely also the individual employees
from each department.
5. Set Individual KRAs: The full form of KRA is Key Responsible Area. BSRM sets
individual KRAs for the employees in order to see their efficiency in different areas or
fields. KRAs are mainly formed mainly to check the versality of the employees. The
number of KRAs for the employees can be 4 to 6. Every KRA has a minimum weightage
from 10 to 30 points. The KRAs are reviewed quarterly.
6. Competency Points Calculation: Every employee receives competency points for
performing activities. The competency points are calculated by the superiors over 30
parameters.
7. Yearly end review: The employees receives a yearly end review from the organization
for the activities performed by throughout the year. The KPI of each employee in
calculated on a scale of 5 points
