It is to bring to the notice of the Authority that the Super Structure is designed as Pre-stressed Concrete

type, by considering all the time dependent losses like Shrinkage, Creep etc., based on the Construction
sequence considered in the Design. Further all the losses are considered from the day of Prestressing
operation.

Based on the construction sequence considered in the Designs and Drawings, the Prestressing operation
is instructed to carry-out on 14th day or after getting a compressive strength of 40Mpa,whichever is later.

Now as there is a time gap between the casting of Bottom slab of Box girder and the other components of
Boxgirder, it is suggested to carry-out the Prestressing operation after the concrete attains a compressive
Strength of 45Mpa, i.e after the Concrete attains its full strength, which reduces the losses in the
Prestressing force and will have additional stresses margin in the Maximum stress regions, due to the time
lag in the construction activities.

Further, as an measures it is suggested to apply necessary Bonding agents like Epoxy or any other
suitable agents to have good monolithic action between old concrete and new concrete.
