Discussion: American Muslims: Facts vs. Fiction

After watching the short video on American Muslims: Facts vs. Fiction certain

stereotypes on Islam as a religion stand out and I think that they are unfounded and baseless.

Every person, regardless of their religion has a position in the United States, and these positions

are the foundation and strength of our nation. The video supports my assertion that Muslims are

an integral part of the American society. Even though American Muslims are significantly

affected by the stereotypes on which their positions in the society are questioned, they have

proven that much like other Americans, they are also part of the community and are against

terrorism. However, watching the video highlighted some very important facts that I found

surprising, for instance, compared to the American general population, they are the highest small

business owner’s population.

The various facts illustrated in the video, are considerably based on the truth that

American Muslims are important to the American society as any other nationalist. Apart from

owning companies, being part of the entertainment sector, and playing significantly important

social roles in medicine and engineering, they are involved in various activities aimed at

facilitating the growth of the community as a whole. Additionally, they consider everyone

regardless of their faith having a chance at salvation.

This video, even though it is created by a Muslim Production company highlights

important facts that address the American society as a whole. The primary focus is that American

Muslim communities are also part of the American society and value the peace and social

cohesion of the American people. Therefore, the video plays an important role in showing the

society that Muslims are not the enemy, and that they are also affected and vulnerable to

terrorism as any other American.
