Chapter 3

PROJECT DESIGN

This chapter presents the procedures followed by the researcher in making the structural

design and analysis of a Three-storey School Building. The research procedures are as follows:

1. The researcher conducted a meeting with the client to discuss in detail the necessary

information and the occupancy of every floor for his proposed project and explained

the codes, NBCP, PEC, and NPCP, to be considered in making the structural design

of the project.

2. The researcher asked the management of the subdivision for the requirements and

regulations to be considered in construction of the clients’ proposed project, Three

Storey School Building.

3. The researcher presented a tentative floor plan designs, elevations and cross sections

of the project to the adviser for the assessment and evaluation.

4. The evaluated and revised designs were presented to the client for his alterations and

consent.

5. The researcher proceeded in making the architectural, structural, plumbing and

electrical plans conforming to the codes; NBCP, NPCP and PEC after the approval of

the adviser and the client.

6. Then, the researcher submitted the projects’ seismic, slab, beam, column and footing

analysis with standards and specifications based on the NSCP 2015.

7. The researcher provided a cost estimate of the project, upon the verification and

approval of the adviser to the structural design and analysis of the proposed project.
