Textbook

• Advanced Engineering Mathematics 10th Edition by Erwin Kreyszig, John Wiley. It is

strongly recommended to get a copy of this book. The Indian edition costs around Rs.
900.
• Alternate, Higher Engineering Mathematics by BS Grewal can be referred.

However, I will aim to clear your concepts as much as I can through lectures.

5. Discussion hour

Apart from weekly online discussion hour (Thursday 09:00 A.M. -10:00 A.M.), you are
also welcome to email the instructor whenever you need help. I will make a WhatsApp
group for discussion.

Link for online meeting

We will primarily use zoom however, in case of difficulties we will switch to mooKIT.
Please find the links that are given below.
a) ZOOM link (we will use this primarily)
https://zoom.us/j/3379212387?pwd=ZUlYWTViOEhyeGxPVFQyVHRqYTlLQT09
Meeting ID: 337 921 2387
Passcode: 7u3JFx

b) mooKIT link

Please note all the online discussion sessions will be recorded.

5. Course plan

Online lectures will be uploaded through mookit . Every week starting from the first week
of September 2020, video lectures will be uploaded. And I will clear your doubts in the
discussion hour to be held in the following week. For example, if a lecture on matrix
analysis is shared in week 0 then your doubts related to the topic will be discussed during
the discussion hour in week 1. The discussion will be held through zoom. Every week on
Saturday starting from week 1 the quizzes will be held online from 12 noon to 12.30
pm
CE603A: Mathematics for Civil Engineers

3. Evaluation scheme

Evaluation will be through quizzes only. Best 10 out 12 quizzes will be used for final
grading.

Note: If I can sense people are copying solutions, these quiz problems will get tougher.
Also, the same mistakes will give zero.

Weekly plan
Every week on Saturday starting from week 1 the quiz will be held online from 12
noon to 12.30 pm. After the quiz you need to upload the file in the specific google
drive within 10 minutes. Files uploaded after 10 minutes will not be graded.

Guidelines for submitting quizzes

• A google drive link will be shared with you where your quiz files need to be uploaded
within 10 minutes after completion of exam. If not uploaded within 10 minutes after the
exam they will not be graded.
CE603A: Mathematics for Civil Engineers

• When you upload the quizzes please name the file as CE603A-” Your Roll No”-Quiz#.pdf
“Your Roll no” is your roll number. And, # is to be replaced by quiz number. While
naming the files please do it carefully. For instance, if my roll number is 20203786 then
for quiz the file name will be CE603A-20203786-Quiz1.pdf. If files are not named as
suggested your quiz will not be graded.

Important
It is my kind request to not to take any unfair means for good grades. You will be severely
penalized. If you need help feel free to contact me I will try my best to assist you in learning.
