Question 1

Your security organization is planning to carry out a research to use in the designing of an
intervention pragramme on criminal activities among youths in your area.
a) State THREE specific, measurable, attainable, reliable and time framed (SMART)
objectives of the study. (3 marks)

b) Design a questionnaire with FIVE background characteristics and 8 dependent


variables. Note that at least 2 questions of the dependent variables should be multiple
responses.
(15 marks)

c) Carry out the survey with 200 (100 females, 100 males) youths in your area.
i) How would the results of the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of your
respondents look like? (10 marks)

ii) Interpret your findings in c(i). (5 marks)

iii) How would the results from the cross tabulations of any one of your dependent and
independent variable look like? (10 marks)

iv) Interpret your findings in c(iii) above. (7 marks)

As a follow up to the quantitative study in Question One, you have decided to undertake
in-depth interviews.
i) State the target population for the in-depth interviews. (3 marks)

ii) Why would you undertake the in-depth interviews? (3 marks)

iii) How many in-depth interviews would you conduct? Why? (2 marks)

iv) Design the in-depth interview guide with EIGHT questions only. (8 marks)

v) Conduct the in-depth interviews. Present your key findings in THREE pages (10
marks)
