The table provides data on five categories of vehicles registered in Australia at two-year intervals
from 2010 to 2014. Overall, automobile and motorcycle ownership increased throughout the
surveyed period, albeit to varying degrees. Although passenger vehicles were the most commonly
used, the most significant increment was found in the number of motorbikes.

As is seen in the table, the data on passenger vehicles reached a staggering 13 million despite the
second-lowest growth rate of 10.2%. The commercial counterparts climbed steadily to 2.7 million
through the years, achieving an almost 20% increase in number at the end of 2014.

As the third most popular means of transport, almost 170,000 more motorcycles were purchased
and registered in 2014 compared to 4 years earlier - which represented a remarkable increase
rate of 30.8%. With 416,000 owners, heavy trucks remained a preference over light trucks despite
their marginal growth rate of 8.3%. The number of light trucks accounted for a mere one third of
that of heavy trucks in 2014, amounting to 131,000 in spite of the substantial rate of change.
