Nature and Humanity As most of my ideas are

related to the relationship
between nature and humanity,
the hands and plants, which
later became the two
important elements in my
creation, have already
appeared in early free sketches

I think the hands best

represent humanity
because the hands virtually
have many exquisite
details, if you observe
them closely, that are just
as delicate as human’s
complicated minds.
Artist - Michelangelo

Michelangelo could have

been one of the artists
who has influenced me the
most throughout these
two years because his
works best exemplify the
human figures, especially
human’s hands as well.

as his works best

exemplify the natural
scenes, specifically in an
impressionist way. I think
impressionism would be
the best way to illustrate
nature, such as its
techniques of quick-
painted surfaces, short
brushstrokes, separating
colours, etc. Nature is
different than a fixed
object, which is changing
all the time.

Personal Connections

The reason why I drew this

specific silhouette of my
elder sister’s husband is
because of my attempt to
explore different people by
drawing portraits. Since Yayoi
Kusama’s motifs are the
painting patterns of polka-
dots and infinity-nets, I
decided to draw this
silhouette using the
techniques similar to
Kusama’s works, such as
“Pumpkin”, “The Moment of
Regeneration”, and “Great
Gigantic Pumpkin”.
