Introduction

Education to Employment: Bridge to Success

New Brighton School of the Philippines, Inc. as it launched its school opening last June
22, 2019, it has offered programs for both College and Senior High School. There are three
strands under Senior High School Department namely, ABM (Accountancy and Business
Management); STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics); and HUMSS
(Humanities and Social Sciences).
There are students who decided to enroll in the Institution have greater risk in enrolling
the school despite its new existence. One of those are from HUMSS. As per defined by DepEd,
HUMSS stands for Humanities and Social Sciences. This strand focuses on the study of human
behavior and societal changes, and analysis of arts, culture, literature, and politics. It involves
political science, anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and communication. That is why,
enthusiastically, students as they started the school year, they were so happy knowing there is
this strand that is in line with what do they want in preparation to the tertiary level.
Moreover, most of the students in this section want to become a Policemen, some are
going to be Teachers, others are desiring for courses related with Communication and one
student in class wants to be a Lawyer someday. Most of the time, the strand is being degraded
because of its nature that it engages only arts and not sciences and businesses. At the end of
the line the feedback of the students themselves and as how capable they are break the latter
mindset of those who are surrounding them. This report shows the accomplishments of the
whole section for the rest of the first semester, as well as the problems encountered and how it
is being given solution for the benefit of each student in this Institution.

Table 2

Table 1 shows the number of students under HUMSS, there are 16 students last
1st semester and now two are being added to the class. Therefore, there are already
18 students for the HUMSS Class with percentage of 39% for the boys and 61% for
the girls with a total of 100%.
Next, the table 2 shows the names of the HUMSS students. As being shown (In
bold letters), this second semester, Ralph Anthony Colobong and Krizelai Sophie
Andrae Sunio were transferred in from one school at Davao and from Notre of
Dadiangas University, respectively. They transferred for some reasons and they
have to take the subjects assigned in their strand regardless if they have already
taken it from their previous schools or not. As per attendance, I have difficulty in
monitoring Ms. Arriate (like last sem) as well as Ms. Sunio. For Ms. Arriate, the
problem was already addressed by the family by giving her personal intervention.
However, Ms. Sunio’s case is complicated than of Ms. Arriate because she has a lot
of consecutive absences that have affected her academic performances.

Table 3

Figure 1 shows the seat plan of the students. I have modified the seat plan a
little base on their academic performance. The reasons why they are being arranged in
such way is because one student needs the assistance of the other (Scaffolding), that is why
the low level of academic performance students are being seated with student who has
high level of academic performance to support his/her seatmate.

Whereas table 3 presents the classroom officers. Actually, the students who first
enrolled in HUMSS class excluding the transferee were given positions. This is for the
purpose of accountability of each one that they have to stand on their position as to what
its nature demands them to do.

EVENTS

IV. November
The classes for second semester started last November 21, 2020. We
welcome two new members of the class- Mr. Colobong and Ms. Sunio as they
transferred in from other schools. One of the highlights this month was giving of
awards for those who have achieved ‘with honors’ last semester. The program
was attended by the school president Mr. Arvin T. Chan and the program itself
was organized by the faculty and staff of New Brighton School of the
Philippines, Inc. There are 8 of my students who got into the honors’ list. The
following is the honor list for HUMSS. The thorn among roses got the only high
honors in the class and the rest of the eight got with honors.

V. December
The month of December is one of the most awaited months of the year
because it a year to enjoy with family. In this month, the students took their
preliminary exam. However, there was no Christmas party because of some of
financial reasons that not everyone can afford. Instead, the Senior High Department
just allotted a little time to gather together and celebrate Christmas through games
and eating some pica pica.
As for the HUMSS, they asked me go out and have some bonding time
together. That is why we went to SM, ate together and bond just for them to enjoy
their Christmas Season.
Bonding Time

VI. January
“A season of new beginning.” We started our class last January 6, 2020. The
HUMSS class was very happy because in their first day, finally, they were all present
inside the class. That is why we took photo because they said that it is just rarely
happening to them as one class.

And also, the month of January is the celebration of Chinese New Year. Of
course, the students including HUMSS class were asked to attend the Chinese New
Year event held at Veranza Mall of GenSan. Aside from just attending, they also
participated an intermission number singing as Chinese Song taught by their
Chinese Teacher, Ms. Sophia Lim.

Celebration

VII. February
One of the busiest month my students have had was February because this is
a month of activities. First, they defended their research proposal as they faced
their panelists’ question just for them to justify how important their researchers
were. In my section, I have four groups who defended researches to be conducted
next school year. And because they weren’t able to celebrate heart’s day, as their
performance task they were given the chance to celebrate love’s month last
February 18, 2020 in collaboration with their 21 st Century Literature allowing them
to present Philippine literary pieces with the theme of love.
In this month, there were also seminars conducted inside the school campus
to which HUMSS students also joined. Next was the NBSPI days, as the month
ended, the students enjoyed the NBSPI days last February 26-27, 2020. HUMSS
class participated in most of the activities such as in sports, academics and socio
cultural. At the of the end day, they got the Champion place as they gathered more
points against college department.

NBSPI Days

VIII. March
March is the supposed to be 2nd to
the last month of the school year but
it was the last because of the
breaking news that our country has
been attacked by a virus COVID19.
And so, as a result, the class was
suspended and some of the classes
were conducted online. But before
that, the students took their Pre Final
examination last March 12, 2020 and on the afternoon, there was a PTC. Last March
12, 2020, the school was chosen to take the NAT 10.
