Negative sentences: We use there isn’t / there aren’t to say that something isn’t located in the place or
doesn’t exist:
Singular plural
There isn’t an apple on the desk. There aren’t any apples on the shelf.
Interrogative sentences: We use Is there…? / Are there...? to ask whether something is located in the place
or exists:
Singular plural
Is there an apple on the desk? Are there any apples on the shelf?
Yes, there is. No, there aren´t.
Is there a dog in the supermarket? Are there any dogs in the park?
No, there isn't. Yes, there are.
*Use any for countable and uncountable nouns in Negative sentences and Interrogative sentences.
