Early life

Choerry was born on June 4, 2001 in Bucheon, South Korea. She is the eldest of three daughters, the
youngest born in 2008. Her father runs a machine repair business. She attended Yeo-weol Elementary
School.
Choerry appeared on a 2009 episode of Happy Time, Fantastic Mates (환상의 짝꿍) when she was
seven years old, and performed a dance cover of Son Dam-bi’s “Saturday Night.”[3][4]
Choerry performed a cover of Taeyeon’s “The Blue Night of Jeju Island” at a festival on April 23,
2016.[5]
Choerry was initially cast after participating in a vocal contest.[6] She later passed her audition for
Polaris/BlockBerry Creative and became a trainee at the same time as fellow members HaSeul and
YeoJin,[7] either late 2015 or early 2016. Choerry and HaSeul lived near each other and would
commute to Polaris-BlockBerry together as trainees.

2017: Reveal, solo debut, ODD EYE CIRCLE


On July 4, 2017, the eighth “Who’s Next Girl?” teaser was released, and Choerry was revealed as the
eighth member on July 12. She released her solo single album Choerry on July 28, and subsequently
debuted as a member of LOONA.

On August 29, 2017, Choerry was revealed as the maknae of LOONA’s second sub-unit, ODD EYE
CIRCLE.

2018: Woomanna, Debut in LOONA


From February to March 2018, Choerry starred alongside fellow ODD EYE CIRCLE members Kim
Lip and JinSoul in the third season of Woomanna. She played an eighteen-year-old dance major who
had been admitted to university early due to her dancing abilities.
On August 20, Choerry officially debuted as a member of the completed group LOONA. She and her
members released the mini-album [+ +], along with the title track “Hi High”.

2019: First comeback


On February 19, 2019, LOONA released [X X], a repackage album of [+ +] featuring a new title track
“Butterfly”. Choerry participated in choreographing parts of “Butterfly”, and was credited as “Choi-
daeri” (최대리, Assistant Manager Choi) on the album.[8]

2020: High school graduation, second comeback


Choerry graduated from Chungshin Girls’ High School in Seoul on January 7, 2020.[9]
On February 5, 2020, LOONA released their second mini-album, [#], featuring the title track “So
What”. Along with HeeJin, Yves, and Olivia Hye, Choerry once again participated choreographing the
title track and was credited by name in the “Choreography idea” section of the album credits. Jokingly,
it was said that other members are interns, and Choerry had been promoted from Assistant Manager
(Choi-daeri) to Team Lead.[10]
